As far as I am aware no plans have been submitted beyond outline planning permission which was given in late June. I don't think building would be possible without a detailed application. I would imagine that is what the surveyors were there for.

Letters were sent to local residents about plans to build a care home; it was in the News Post Leader too if I remember rightly.

When I was in Ashington a week or two ago, there were a couple of people with petitions asking the public and business owners to sign against parking charges.

They left extra petition sheets in a lot of the shops, hoping that customers might sign them too.

Haven't been up the front street in ages, so I'm not sure if anything like this has been happening there. I did sign the petition in Ashington though, although I wonder if it will have any effect on the final desicion?

I did hear that that they were due to re-open soon (Déjà vu).

Let's hope they do a bit more than dust the place this time around.

Another thing, I've noticed that in order to place an ad you have to provide either your phone number or your email address and this applies to all sections. Not a problem for selling stuff I suppose...

Whether he is guilty or not is something that should be debated separately surely – the point is, we have a person who has been convicted of committing a serious crime who has been allowed to walk free - like Ronnie Biggs not long ago – on 'Compassionate' grounds.
