  1. They are selling the golf club to the club members. It will continue to be a golf course. The site of the exciting new community facility is yet to be decided.

Exactly - the site wont be decided untill its clear what facilities the new center will provide. Theres no point buying a plot then realising its too big / too small later on:

A: Undertake a survey within the community to ascertain the particular activities that are required to be provided for.

B: To scope out the scale of a facility based on the findings of the survey.

C: To review appropriate location options based on the outcome of B above.

So why dont we all get in touch with WDC and let them know what we would all like to see?

    :)

  2. Photoshop can produce amazing pics even in the hands of a novice. B) The word 'Sucker' comes to mind.

Yeah, you can add some filters to an image in Photoshop in a matter of seconds.

But then, it just looks like you've added a filter to a photograph using Photoshop.

You wouldnt want to frame that or give it as a gift, would you?

The word 'Cheapskate' comes to mind.

    :P

  3. Aye and have you heard Blyth is getting a bloody KFC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Where's Bedlington's?

    KFC?

    No thanks.

Last time i had one of those i nearly died of shock.

I got some "chicken" drumsticks, but since when has chicken been dark grey and stubbly?

Probably been dead for a few month and not plucked properly.

Either that or it was rat.

  4. Lets all upload photos! Most of mine are not digital tho and i dont have a scanner

Dave, Bedlington Library has scanners in their computer room, i dont know if you've used their facilities before but the staff there are friendly and would be happy to help too.

Best of all - its free!

    :D

  5. Hi all,

Just came to this site after a few years away How is Bedlington these days? My husband and I spent a week

there with friends in Bedlington last October. Many moons ago my father in law was born there-Joe Gray.Came out to Australia when he was three with his parents. He is desceased now. We were going through some old photos that the family sent to their daughter from Bedlington to Australia back from 1930's. One member of the family was just going to burn them! so we rescued them. Even a photo of the Red Lion back then and photos of Doctor Pit mine

    Cheers for now

    Val

    Hi Val

I'm glad you kept the old photos of Bedlington, if you want to share them you can get them uploaded here.

    :)

  6. when were you last in the market tavern? miss vic will stick up for me here coz its really a nice place now. we have no under 18's in unless accompanied by adults. we have karaoke night on a thursday, live acoustic music on a friday and live rock on saturdays. Its a cracking place to drink now, im always there.even when im not working :)

Yeah, it was a while back - before it got done out and everything.

Live rock on saturdays? I never knew - is it busy?

  7. So its like everywhere else in Bedlington then.

Actually, an avarage age of 18 is quite old compared to most people you meet drinking around here.

I was up the top end once (mind, i avoid that place like the plauge now) - and i was gobsmacked to find a 14 year old girl in the toilets of the Market Tavern - shrieking in delight at her school mates who were equally happy for her because she 'got serverd' at the bar.

    Its a shame really.

Although most of them do end up at the Red Lion / Movies now, which i have named the 'Soft play' areas.

  8. I have never been in the place but I have heard good reports about it from reletives.

Yeah, the carvery food is nice.

The bar meals are another story.

I've had a meal from the bar end twice. (The second time around i thought i'd try a different meal - not hard to make a desicion though seen as theres only 4 on the menu) What an experiance.

First time around it was terrible. Second time around it was worse.

Not just the food but the service and the environment. I couldnt here myself think for that damn bandit plonked in the middle of all the tables.

I see they've given the walls a lick of paint. (Well, some of them anyway). It'll take a lot more than that to get me back.

If anyones looking for a nice meal that they can eat without worrying about wether their going to die of food poisoning - i'd suggest going elsewhere.

  9. Well i'd get a hobby if i were if you .. just waiting around for others to amuse you anywhere wont work.. hollyoaks is fiction...at least bedlington has a website where you can moan about stuff ..unlike elsewhere nearby

    Haha, thats right.

Can anyone remember, on the old Bedlington Forum there were links to the Ashington forum and other ones, i remember the Alnwick one was popular.

Anyone know if those forums are still up?

  10. Well, my dad mentioned it first - that pub thats opened halfway along the Barrington Road.

"Thas a new pub opend alang the Barrington Road - Al he ti cal in sumtime"

I didnt believe him at first... but then i saw it for myself.

    How bizzare.

  11. Well, dont get me wrong there are plenty of good, decent people living there.

I know quite a few and their all canny enough.

I lived in Burnside untill i was about 9, and i must admit it was a bit of a dump hole then.

...I suppose you get places like that everywhere.

    Shame really. :(

  12. yes you can always rely on plain old dull bedlington for theres a 99% chance that nothing will happen!:lol:

Monsta, you could always move to Blyth.

I hear theres riots there at least once per night - hows that for action?

Whats the Station like is it any better? I was in Bedlington just before Christmas and I must agree there was not many people about even at night.

Oh wow... Bedlington Station. The mere mention of the name.

Well, nothing happens at the station either. Except the usual street dealers lurking in the shadows and the under age drinkers sitting on that seat opposite Walters.

Lots of broken windows... I'm getting scared just typing about it!

  13. I must admit, I've been up there on a saturday afternoon and it's been just about deserted.

    It was weired...

You know, normally you'd see older people shuffling up and down the place.

I thought maybe thered been a bomb scare and i'd missed it or something... ah well - good old Bedlington.

  14. The council normally take down shelters that have been vandalised. I dont think that one was - was it?

I've been past a few times in the car, and seen old people standing there in the rain, getting splashed by passing vehicles. My heart bleeds. No really - it does.

  15. Yes its true - the old Maxi freeze will be the kitchen shop (Tom Hennesy is moving there - his old place was where that new hair dressers is now).

And next door will be an estate agents - ive been in there its coming along.

Upstairs will be flats, although they are looking more like something out of a horror movie at the moment.
