Jester, just keep reporting to the police no matter how trivial an incident seems at the time.
Every time you report an incident to the police they will have to log it and this will gradually push up crime statistics for your area – which is the last thing the police want.

The mother of a teenager killed by a police car has said she is "disgusted" that the officer jailed over her death is to be allowed home over Christmas:

I personally think that sentences should be paid in full without this type of leniency. After all, once John Dougal is released he'll have plenty of time to spend with his family – whereas the family of Hayley will never have her back.

tesco closed 6 stores in that block and opened one inadequate tesco store.I'm sick of this town playing second fiddle to other towns. Newbiggin got a beach Ashington get a superstore, sports centre. Blyth get parks and play areas. Morpeth get MILLIONS spent on a shopping precinct. We get 2 million spent on some paving slabs. Although very pretty in does not detract from the fact that the surrounding buildings are crumbling as is our community. The population of Bedlington is huge and continues to grow, yet the council refuse to add to the amenities. Prefering to gloss over the cracks and hope we wont notice. Buildings are left derelict for years. While OUR council tax is spent elsewhere.
Couldn't agree more Wayne.

There was a story in The Journal saying that the County council would be looking at the least used libraries as part of the budget discussions. According to the Journal Bedlington Station was in the bottom six, and Bedlington was outside this six but in the bottom 12. So we don't know if anything will happen to the library, but can't assume it will be safe either.
I'm not surprised Bedlington Station library was in the bottom six. They have a very poor selection of books and the library itself is small.
In my opinion Bedlington library isn't that much better either. I find that the majority of their non-fiction books are old / out dated.

We cooked a Roasting Pork Roll on the rotisserie in the Bar-B -Que, it looked lovely the crackling was great but it was dry inside, it was not over cooked but still dry does anyone have any suggestions on how to cook pork so it's nice and moist ( keep it clean Monsta)
How long did you cook the pork for Brian?

As there is apparently a question mark over the library too
What's happening with the library?

Sorry, I don't know what the 'Coronation Shelter' was, but I intend to find out pretty soon. Will let you all know then.
I know quite a few photos are a small but this is all I could find. I'll see if I can get any bigger ones but I can't promise anything yet.

Tesco were allegedly initially approached and asked to contribute £1k towards the events that are taking place in the market place to which they agreed but have since u-turned on. Interestingly, Asda in Ashington agreed to a £1.5k request for similar events taking place there. Is this the level of community support we are to expect from Tesco?
What events were they asked to contribute to and who asked them to contribute?
Because if it's the council asking for money, I think that they get enough money from us as it is - and if they spent less on themselves / other towns, then there might be more to spend on events in Bedlington.
Having said that though, I know Tesco already support various charities and they do a great job of supporting them... but I also think they should try to give something back to the local community too.

Rumour has it that the law courts are set to close with court employees being asked whether they would prefer to travel to either the courts in Newcastle or Gateshead.
If that is the case what is to happen to the building there? It hasn't even been there for ten years yet has it? Could this be our fabled Leisure Centre?
I can't see why the Law Courts in Bedlington would close – where has this rumour come from?

They are. their uncles aren't.
Apparently there's a school trip coming up next week which is still going ahead. The kids have been told to wait outside the school.
It could re-open again before the Christmas holidays if the problem is resolved before then.

A new Gallery is up containing photos of various Miners Picnics through the years. Hopefully, there will be videos added soon too.
If anyone has any old photos or videos of the Bedlington Miners picnics, you can share them on this thread and they will also be added to the gallery.
You can view the photos here:

I use Firefox but a few weeks ago it was driving me mad. It got to the point where I would open the browser and within a couple of minutes my whole computer would freeze and I'd have to restart the whole thing.
Now I'm using a newer version and so far so good.

I think they're makeshift changing rooms and storage for the football teams. I think that's part of the argument for what the Friends of Gallgaher Park are doing.
Yeah, storage and changing facilities. Not sure if there is some type of portaloo in there too?

Thank you so much for sharing this. It's fabulous & brought back so many memories for me of growing up in Bedlington in the 1970's. Picnic Day & 'The Gala' trip to Whitley Bay were the highlights of the summer for us kids back then. Thanks Again.
Great video Cympil.
I wonder how many people in the crowds had travelled from Blyth / Ashington / Morpeth etc to be there.
It's a shame we don't have events like this anymore.

Tommy the egg man
If you manage to catch his eye when you're driving past he always throws his hand up in the air to say hello.
Vote Tommy!

I`ve never used the dog groomers for my dog, there`s a lass comes to the house to cut it`s hair, do it`s nails and brush it`s teeth All for £15 and she makes a great job.
The dog doesn`t like her much though, it hides when she comes in
Are you sure she's doing a good job?
The Ridge Farm Panned On Qype

I don't know how it is possible to make vegetables have no taste, but the Ridge Farm succeeds every time.
Honestly, if you're invited out by others and the meal is on them then go for it. But if you're planning something special - go elsewhere as the quality of food here will only embarrass both yourself and your guests.
The Three Horse Shoes: I ate there for the first and last time in 2008 – Enough said.
The Astley Arms: Same standard as Ridge Farm but half the price.
