  1. Bedlington got a nap hand at Washington yesterday in a crucial relegation battle. Bedlington dominated from start to finish and ran out comfortable 5-0 winners. Goals from Michael Latimer, Lee Ludlow and a second half hat trick from Tony Shandran did the damage and with tough games coming up, its just what the Terriers needed!

The next match is this Saturday (5th April) when Bedlington play their last home match of the season, when they face Consett. Remember to buy a programme, yours truly does it! :D

Neil - Does the club put on any transport for away games?

Thanks guys, its good to know there'll be a few extra faces there on the 5th. I think a few of us may be sticking around after the game for a few drinks so let me or dave know if yous fancy joining us in the bar afterwards.

Transport to away games in the league is rare, usually just to some of the longer journeys like Northallerton. Generally the players and supporters make their own way there due to the cost of hiring buses which is a shame cos its always good craic on the bus.

  3. Wednesday night we had about 50 there, today I'd say about the same with a few from Northallerton. So why is, that a town like Bedlington cannot get decent attendances through the gates of their top non-league side?

Let’s take Blyth, they have a good history, just like ourselves yet easily can get 300+ through the gates at a higher price when they play teams from lower leagues?

Bedlington, not too dissimilar in size to Blyth, also have a good history yet cannot get people through the gates no matter how hard they try? When we had success we would get 250+ every game, yet now, when we REALLY need backing, everybody has gone?

The chairman, Dave Holmes, and the people around him invest a lot of their own time into the club for no reward, and they need help. It’s as simple as that. Whether it be coming to the game and paying the £4 or offering to get involved with the club it doesn't matter. But we need to know that the town actually care about their team. I mean, we even have one of the best clubhouses in the league and the welcome you get is second to none.

We have plans for the future, big plans, but the only thing that will happen if things don't change will be the death of a club because the local community failed to get behind them in their hour of need. The town should have taken the warning a couple of years back when the club nearly folded, but it took two people from outside of the town to save it. Surely they are enough people in Bedlington to get a committee into the club working in a professional manner to drive the club on?

It pains me to say it, but it’s a shame that the town of Bedlington seem to have turned their back on the one successful sporting team that helped put the town firmly on the map only a few years ago.

  4. Todays game has got to be a six pointer looking at Northallertons league position, Bedlington must have a chance of the points.

Neil is the popup score window available for every game as I do not seem to be able to get it even with popups turned off.

    Good luck for this afternoon.

    :D

It finished 2-2 today, a game very much of two halves! Bedlington will definitely consider it 2 points dropped and it felt like a defeat at the final whistle.

Pop ups are on most games, the service is provided by Whitley Bay so if there are any problems its at their end.

Only one more home game to go this season, 5th April against Consett. If anyone is at a loose end on a Saturday afternoon, come along to one of the away games, its a cracking afternoon out and we need as much support as possible.

  5. Thanks Pete, unfortunately we lost 3-2. It was a cracking game but we've been blighted by a bit of an injury crisis and the defence ended up having just two defenders in it. Never mind though, tomorrow is a huge game and I hope as many poeple in Bedlington can get there as possible!

  6. Terriers are at home this Wednesday, 19th March, against Billingham Synthonia (7.30 kick off) and then have a relegation six pointer at Welfare Park on Saturday 22nd March against Northallerton.

Be there and sample one of the best pies in the league, and the clubhouse is one of the best as well!

And if you're not, you'll probably be somewhere else!

  7. Bedlington Terriers Appeal for Help - Official Press Release

Bedlington Terriers today issued a plea for help to the local community. Having stabilised the club over the previous 18 months chairman Dave Holmes is eager for an injection of fresh blood into the club.

"We have a fantastically loyal committee behind the scenes at Bedlington but we lack in numbers and if we can get some extra faces willing to help us, in whatever capacity they can, we could make huge strides forward" said Holmes. "Clubs at this level find it very hard to survive day to day and we are no different, I'm looking to the community to help us. We have had well documented problems in the past, but that is exactly where those times lie, in the past. We must look to the future, the club is now stabilised and with Keith and Tony looking after the football side of things, it's up to myself and the committee to give them as much support as possible to ensure we have a team capable of challenging for honours".

With big plans for the playing squad next season, the club is already starting to look at how to raise the necessary funds to give the town the team it deserves. Sponsorship is the key area where non league club funds come from and that is an area where Holmes is asking the local community for help.

"Bedlington is home to many successful businesses and it would be nice to think that they would want to get behind their local club and get a bit of exposure at the same time. We are more than grateful to the local businesses that already support us, we are indebted to them for sticking by the club, but we need more. Bedlington is a big town and it would be a travesty if at some point in the future it didn't have a football club, but without support that is what will happen".

With President Graeme Redpath recently departing the Welfare Park outfit, Holmes is keen to push the club on but cannot do it without new faces getting involved with the running of the club.

"The new season is still a number of months off, but planning for it has already started so there is no better time for people to get involved, whether it be on a match day or not. Absolutely anybody who wants to get involved will be welcomed to the club and if any businesses would like to discuss sponsorship packages, then I'm all ears!"
