  1. This Saturday I'm holding a Race Night at Bedlington Social Club to raise funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. Last years event raised over £3,000 and I'm hoping for something close to that amount again.

Tickets are £5 each and a limited number will be available on the door, so please get there early to avoid disappointment.

There will also be the opportunity to have your picture taken with the Olympic Torch, and the opportunity to bid for a signed and framed NUFC shirt, including bobby Robson and Alan Shearers autogrpahs (including others).

  2. Good luck for the parade. I hope to be there to see it, I think I'm the only person from Bedlington given the honour of carrying the torch, but my torch carrying stint has been allocated in North Shields at around 3pm. I'm not sure what the itinerary is before carrying the torch so I may already be through that way.

Good luck to those organising the event, it sounds fantastic!

  3. Two weeks after carrying the Olympic Torch, I'm organising a Race Night at Bedlington Social Club on 30th June to raise much eneded funds for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. The charity is working towards a cure for all types of blood cancers, diseases which affect too many people, even in our small town, myself includied.

Last years event was an outstanding success with over £3,000 raised on the night and just as importantly, everyone having a brilliant time. And its because of this that I've happily bowed to public pressure to organise a second race night.

Posters are up in various businesses around the town advertising the night and with tickets at only £5 each you can't afford to miss out! All of the profits go directly to the charity, only the purchase of the race videos are funded from the ticket sales.

I've setup a website which tells you about the night along with a little bit about me and how I've been affected by Leukaemia. Tickets can be purchased online for the night or alternatively ring me if you are located in Bedlington and I can hand deliver.

With a huge amount of raffle prizes also up for grabs on the night we have all the ingredients once again for a successful event.

I truly hope that the people of Bedlington come out and support this event, I promise that you'll have a brilliant time!

Doors open at 7pm on the night.

  4. Thanks to everyone who came along today, fantastic weather for a fantastic day.

Everybody seemed to enjoy the new way that we're trying to do things, its certainly the first of many days like that! Can you let me know your thoughts on the day if you were there, what worked, what didn't work and what would you like us to add to the days events????

  5. Saturday 20th August isn't just a big derby day for the Tyne and Wearsiders, it also sees Bedlington kick off their FA Cup campaign with a home match against Whickham.

The doors open at 1pm with a juniors match on before the main event. There will be face painters and a half time penalty shoot out competition for children to take part in. Its sure to be a fantastic afternoon of local football, and with some American visitors coming to town, its our chance to show them what we're made of!

The FA Cup game kicks off at 3pm.

  6. In October 2010, at the ripe old age of 31, I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia. A Bedlington lad all my life, my thoughts quickly turned to raising money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, a registered national charity to help aid research to find a cure for blood cancers.

On Saturday 11th June, I'm organising a Charity Race Night at Bedlington Market Place Social Club, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets are only £5 each and its going to be a fantastic night with great prizes and money to be won.

Tickets can be bought from behind the bar in the club, or by contacting me on 07843 602392. Chris "Foggy" Bartlett is also selling tickets, he can be contacted on 07824 558579.

There are a limited number of horses available to sponsor priced at £5 or £10 depending on the prize, its a 1 in 8 chance of winning the prize (gift hampers, £100 cash, £50 cash or £50 Zuenziga spa voucher), PM me to find out more.

Also in June I'm doing a 140 mile Coast to Coast bike ride, if you would like to sponsor me in the build up, please visit www.justgiving.com/2011c2c. And then, it'll be onto the Great North Run training for September!

  7. Due to the present incumbent stepping down at the end of the season, Bedlington Terriers FC are looking to appoint a press officer to be in role for the start of the 2011/2012 season.

The successful applicant would be working with both the Senior and youth sides within the club.

For more information on the role please contact Stewart Grimes on 01670 826184 (office), 01670 821604 (home) or email Stewart.Grimes@bedlingtonterriersfc.co.uk

  8. Just want to say thanks to the guy with the huge bobcat who has spent almost all of today going around the hazelmere estate clearing the snow away, right down to the tarmac. Doubt he works for the council so its a tremendous gesture of community spirit to spend his time and money making other peoples lives easier.

    Cheers!!!

  9. I'd just like to say well done to all the doom mongers on this site. It's the best thing to happen to bedlington in ages and already it's been written off. Most other places would make a concerted effort to get behind it and make it a success like my wife and I and our friends have already said.

For those said doom mongers, if u aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem, please keep your opinions to yourself and in doing so, do the image of this up and coming town a massive favour.

  10. Bedlington Terriers, on a good run of form, face third palced Dunston UTS at Dr Pit Welfare PArk on Saturday, 27th March.

With the season drawing to a close, the goal of a top six finish is still in reach and the players are going all out to achieve their objective.

Admission is £5 for adults, £2 OAPs and under 16s get in for free.

Come along and watch quality non-league football on your doorstep.
