  1. The registration system changed in June 2014 The new system is called 'Individual Electoral Registration'. You can register to vote anytime throughout the year. http://www.northumberland.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=16198 You can now register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-voteEveryone is responsible for registering themselves. Under the old system the 'head of every household' could register everyone who lived at their address. You need to provide a few more details to register – including your national insurance number and date of birth. This makes the electoral register more secure. So much simpler than going into the council offices are sending off the paperwork.
  2. http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/all-our-patent-are-belong-you This is brilliant.
  3. http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/06/10/streaming-set-top-box-showdown-chromecast-vs-amazon-fire-tv-vs-roku-3-vs-roku-streaming-stick/ I personally think that the Chromecast wins hands down with the ability to TabCast (cast web pages to your TV) and a good selection of the android apps that I use to have their apps whitelisted. Saying this I haven't tried the others but for a device that not alot of people are sure they have a use for I'm pretty sure most people would rather not pay the £100 premium for the roku and be left wondering where they are going to put the box with their TV on the wall
  4. It's brilliant and I use it all of the time for streaming all sorts to the TV in the dining room. Cheap and functional. There's a massive range of apps developing support for the chromecast too. Most recent which looks interesting is VLC are working on a plugin which trsnscodes on the fly from your local machine.
  5. Because Amazon won't limit app store downloads only much like the Amazon app store which has irregular updates and requires you to have the app installed and often running as a service for downloaded software to function?
  6. I did this recently when moving. Bill was circa £100 every month with Fibre broadband, phone package and line rental and Sky TV with sports packages. Called them and told them I wanted to keep the phone and broadband but wanted to cancel the entire TV package as I was sick of paying nearly a hundred quid a month and not really having a chance to watch anything. They offered me 10% off to which I replied no, they then said that they would speak to there boss.....came back and said that they could offer me 25% off but that was it. I refused again. I had no intention of bartering a deal with them at this point as I just didn't want the extra expense. Got a call a day later offering me 50% off my TV package for 12 months with sports included. Now my bills come in at £59.90 with the package: Sky Talk Anytime (including 0845 numbers) Sky Fibre 40/20 Sky TV - Entertainment Extra + Sky Sports (no HD bundle) Pretty pleased and had no intention of bartering a deal but if I don't get it for the same after 12 months then I will cancel it completely. I can get enough content from iPlayer/Netflix to satisfy me, especially coupled with my ChromeCast so I can watch it on the TV without messing around with HDMI cables.
  7. Yeah, it's a shame that people can't just respect the work that has gone in. We tend to automatically assume that this would be the young'uns but there is quite a bit of traffic from The Red Lion to the Market Place too. Same happened with the planters at station. Most of the flowers ended up on the pavement.
  8. There's also a 24 hours of folk going on today at Sage Gateshead which looked very interesting. I've been a bit stagnant at the minute with my new music searches. Been mainly listening to solitary electronic genres.
  9. Apparently the Unthanks are performing at Woodhorn June 14th if anyone is interested. http://www.thejournal.co.uk/news/north-east-news/award-winning-folk-stars-unthanks-join-7200168
  10. I got 4/13 Shocking but I did German, albeit I am equally as bad at that.
  11. I tend to watch more RT and Al Jazeera than BBC news. You tend to gut a less biased opinion of events. They also had alot of coverage of the matters going on in Ukraine which seemed to be forgotten about over here. Follow RT on twitter too as they have some good technology and science articles.
  12. I've been reading this book about Stockholm Syndrome. I hated it at first, but now I'm starting to really like it.
  13. Sunderland votes are just in and UKIP getting 24% of the currently counted votes. Bearing in mind that they came from a 0% from last year to beat the tories. This is still a labour area with 47% but that's a hell of a rise for UKIP but still waiting to see if any seats are to be taken. After all 1 seat is 100% more than they had this time last week.

As a utility I use Hirens boot CD. Not it's own OS but handy as it contains alot of software/tools to help you diagnose faults etc. http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd
  16. The first rule of Thesaurus Club is - you don't talk about, mention, speak of, discuss or chat about Thesaurus Club.
  17. http://qttabbar.sourceforge.net/ Tabbed browsing for Explorer https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-edge/ Adblock edge. Literally blocked everything including the sites that have paid not to be blocked. http://ninite.com/ The only site you should use after an install http://www.palemoon.org/palemoon-x64.shtml 64-bit version of Firefox. Way better than Waterfox which crashes frequently.
  18. Threegee have you seen Question Time from last night yet? The most valid point in the entire show came from a member of the audience. Is there any wonder that people feel disconnected from politics, especially the younger generation.

    Charity Hair Cut

Welcome to the site, I've shared this on the Bedlington.co.uk Twitter & Facebook accounts for you.
  20. We use Tesco regularly for bits and bobs but do our main shopping elsewhere. I find the stuff we use overly expensive at Tesco e.g. all of the fresh veg.
  21. The Big Event 3 is taking place at Attlee Park in Bedlington on Saturday 21st June and there are still stalls available for businesses and community organisations to sell, network and promote themselves in an informal setting. Jonny Hall, Assistant Manager of Leading Link, said: "The Big Event last year attracted in excess of 2000 people and as a result, it represents the perfect stage for a shop, business or other organisation to interact with the local community." "Some choose to sell their products or services, others fundraise or offer quirky competitions and most use it as an opportunity to talk to local residents, families and young people about what they can offer." A stall on the field costs just £15 for the day (£10 if based in Bedlington). There are limited spaces available, so if you are interested in coming along then please contact the Leading Link team as soon as possible, by calling 01670 820088 or emailing info@leadinglink.co.uk - Original Article - Leading Link Website
  22. The shop you are referring to has a main shop in Newcastle behind The Globe on Scotswood Rd does it not? Also this is now closed and is being repurposed into either residential property or alternative fronting for a commercial premises. This appears to be the planning application: Conversion of existing shop and storage into 4 No two bed dwellings including demolition of modern rear store and part boundary wall
  23. You can't leave it like that. The suspense is killing me.
  24. Cheers guys, I am spending my morning painting the living room before being raided by the children in the family for an easter egg hunt.
