  1. Hi, its been a while!

I'm looking for a local company to print around 1000 leaflet/brochures for me. (you know they type, a sheet of A4 folded twice to make a tourist booklet)

Of course, i could just print them myself, but the cost of ink, and the quality of paper is not acceptable.

I'm looking for something not too glossy, but with a shine too it, but not too cheap looking either.

i have a basic design saved as a PDF that could be improved on.

Anyone had any experience with this type of thing?

I dont mind dropping names, if it helps you get a discount next time ;)

Of course there are the online companies like VistaPrint etc, but i'd rather do it locally if i can.

Oh, and if the price is right, i'd stretch to 5000 ;)

  2. There's an old sea story about a ship's Captain who inspected his sailors, and afterward told the first mate that his men smelled bad. The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors would change underwear occasionally.

The first mate responded, "Aye, aye sir, I'll see to it immediately!"

The first mate went straight to the sailors berth deck and announced, "The Captain thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your underwear." He continued, "Pittman, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with Witkowski, and Brown, you change with Schultz."

    THE MORAL OF THE STORY:

Someone may come along and promise "Change", but don't count on things smelling any better.

  3. like that, but not.

Basically i want a 12" square piece of elasticated cloth with adjustable velcro fastners. a square of velcro, with hooks on one side and the wool on the other would do the job!

Thank you for looking so far tho.

The position of the main pad on the first link is the area i want to cover, just without the pad, and the ability to make it really tight.

I know from experience those pads dont hold things tight enough for what i'm after.

  4. this is going to seem a bit daft, but i've seen something similer and i cant find anything like it.

What i want is a velcro "chap" type thing to go around my calfs, so about 12 inches in width, and long enough to wrap all the way round my leg.

The keywords i'm using to search are not bringing much back.

What its for: I am a diver, using a neoprene drysuit. i'm finding, when i go slightly inverted to inspect something on the sea bed, that what little air i have in the suit goes to my feet, and makes a baloon type effect in my calfs, making it hard to swim until i right myself properly. My buddy has elasticated 'chaps' that has a velcro fastner which solves the problem, but he got his from another buddy, who got them from another buddy.... yo can see where i'm going with this.

I can find equestrian chaps that look exactly what i'm after, only they are leather, and i need them to be made of fabric, preferably elasticated fabric. The sea would ruin leather ones in a matter of days.

    Any help?

  5. Sadly there would seem to be valid reasons..........

    http://uk.news.yahoo...-180826444.html

Personally i would not call that a valid reason. There are plenty of unmanned bodies of water in the form of rivers, the sea, lakes etc. a child can even drown in a bathtub!

Not filling a paddling pool in a park is a step too far in my eyes. Children young enough to be in danger should be with parents or guardians anyway. Older children should be able to get themselves out easily enough.

I really do not want to bring this up, for fear of starting something i don't mean too, but the skate parks that have popped up all over the place ar FAR more dangerous than a pool of water.

How there has not been a serious accident in these parks yet i'll never know. its all steel edges and slippery slopes, and none of the kids wear helmets!

My point is, if thats fine to leave unmanned, why is a paddling pool such an issue?

  6. .... but these days there can only be water in if there is a lifeguard present all the time.

Then there is no longer an issue with a lack of jobs in bedlington...

i can think of at least 3 potholes that will require a round the clock lifeguard.....

  7. Some pertinent people have left i agree (one to The Lion actually!) but my experience last weekend was pleasurable.

I compare to cetain pubs in Blyth, whom sit texting and ignoring you till you shout at them, then you get a grunted "What?" and the pint slapped down and "three quid and three pence" with an out turned hand waiting for the money. and low-betide you hand over a £20 note!

I thought it may have just been me, but it was the way all customers were treated whilst i was in several of Blyth's pubs.

At least you still get a smile, a please, a thank you and even a "been far?" when they were not too busy.

I find that in most pubs in Bedlington though. Most are well mannered, and will pass the time of day.

  8. I can't remember what my views were (and cant be bothered to look back!) but i think i was in support from the start.

As i think i said before it opened, it has made Bedlington an option on a friday or saturday night for me, and is chosen more often than not to be fair!

2 pints in the lion to start the night and catch up with the banter, then down the street for one in each till we've had enough (missing the Blue Bell out, i still don't feel, erm, safe? in there).

Still think the Grapes needs an overhaul, but the staff make up for the decor.

I'm liking the Tavern at the moment too, but then again, i'm well gone by the time i get that far!

  9. The better half and myself enjoyed a meal there recently.

The only thing, and this is being picky as hell!, was the final bill.

When it came it was a slip of cheap thin till roll, with

    "drink

    drink

    drink

    drink

    food

    food

    Total"

which did the job i'll admit, but i think an upgrade to something more personalised and itemised would be better, especially looking at the consumer aimed at.

But lets face it, if that's all i have to complain about, the place MUST be impressive!

There's talk of closing the bar altogether and making it all one restaurant. anyone else heard this?

  10. Logistics? erm, no. (did i miss the pun?)

I would have easily took 20+ tries had i not took over a minute on each try! Once you realise you cannot have two of the same colour in a row till the end it becomes a little clearer, but i still found i made silly errors in my other attempts!

    No-one else had a go?

  11. Its all about education...

many people i have spoken too have noted the 3rd past the post thing, but when asked if they want this 3rd party in power, they say no.

when asked why they would put them as their second choice, if they don't want them in power, their argument falters.

Many don't realise you can still have a single vote with this new way, they thing you HAVE to rate ALL parties in your vote.

Is this correct? can you still vote for only one if this AV is voted in?
