  1. would a "Yes" / "No" system work better? Whereby you simply put a tick next to a candidate you WOULD like in, but a corss next to someone you really do not want to get in, if you do not have a preference. I.E: i may like candidate A and candidate B as a second. I may have no preference either way for Candidate C, but definatly DO NOT want candidate D in power, so i would put a 1 and 2 for A and B but cross candidate D. (this is in no way a polished idea, but an idea all the same) Would that work better? Also, DEFINATLY a "None of the above" box. I'd like the oppertunity to let those in charge know i do respect the vote, but simply do not want any of the above in power. What would happen if 80% of the voters voted "None of the Above" and is this why its not in place?
  2. I'll bet if you want to complain it has to be in writing too! No email's for them!
  3. Yes, i noticed the "To Let" sign up outside there....
  4. Apparently it did help though! At the very least, it helped at chucking out time, as you could still get over the road for one last one in 'spoons. I heard takings were up (slightly) in the wharton, just the landlady has had enough. And when you've had enough, its time to go try something else!
  5. I heard too, but is it a result of Wetherspoons appearing? I don't think it is!
  6. someone else already suggested the correct approach in my eyes. Double yellow lines and a jobsworth from the dole que with a ticket book, camera, and a big smile. Within a week, the situation would correct its-self.
  7. thats the ticket! Say it how it is.... being polite certainly aint working... perhaps a leaf out of Egypt's book???!?
  8. Before marriage: She : Hi He : Oh, I've been waiting for this ... She : You want me to go ? He : no, Not at all She : do you love me ? He : are you crazy ? never She : can I trust you ? He : yes She : My love ... after marriage Read the same text upwards ...
  9. A senior citizen in Texas drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he pushed it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left. "Amazing," he thought as he flew down I-40, pushing the pedal even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw a Texas State Trooper, blue lights flashing and siren blaring. He floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120. Suddenly he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this!"and pulled over to await the trooper's arrival. Pulling in behind him, the trooper got out of his vehicle and walked up to the Corvette. He looked at his watch, then said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a new reason for speeding--a reason I've never before heard -- I'll let you go." The old gentleman paused then said: "Three years ago, my wife ran off with a Texas State Trooper. I thought you were bringing her back." "Have a good day, Sir," replied the trooper.
  10. Passed the action on the Plessey Woods bank at around 21:30, fire service, ambulance and several police in attendance. Anyone know what went on? (the bank located to the south of bedlington, past the Golf Course towards Plessey Woods, where the road dips and bears left towards the bridge)
  11. If the fur is worn simply to keep warm, as in eskimo's etc then i don't see an issue with it at all. When its worn as a trophy, with the rest of the animal wasted, then i think this is wrong. If an animal must be killed, i don't see any reason why the whole of the animal should not be used. I suppose i'm doing my bit by eating sausages and hot dogs! (PLEASE don't remind me what's in them!) It was just meant as a joke though, and was re-iterated as it was told to me, without any internally hidden message intended.
  12. the closest shop i can remember to Milbank Road was Ann's Pantry?
  13. I have every suspicion Merc got the joke completely, he was just poking the hornets nest to see if the dummy would fly ;)
  14. Just for the benefit of others, Where are you located? Got some examples of prices?
  15. i neither agree nor disagree with the statement referred too. Frankly, no, i cannot. I found it funny tho!
  16. Dignified? Charles came to Bedlington a few years back wearing a very controversial "Fox-Fur" hat. Back in Balmoral, he was watching the news coverage with his mother, when she saw what he was wearing. "Whatever possessed One to wear such a Monstrosity Charles?" asked his mother "Why is was You Mother!" "One? One advised you to wear such a ridiculous hat?" "Of Course" Charlie replied... "Last week when i told you i was Visiting Bedlington... don't you remember?" "Not at all, One would never do such a thing. When did One suggest that?" "You Did Mother... When i said where i was going, i asked you what to wear, and i distinctly remember you saying 'Bedlington??!?!!? Wear the Fox Hat!!!??!?' "
  17. I can honestly call myself a regular at the Red Lion since it opened, and have seen more drug dealing in other establishments than there. Plus the camera system is said to be rather good! especially "Up-Stairs"...
  18. Keep it up, without someone posting there will be no news! When we have an opinion we'll butt in, believe me!
  19. I asked this question less than a week ago, and there has been no official word as to the final plans for the Netto chain through the stores usual channels. Having said that, the extension to Blyth store changed several times right up to the breaking of ground, so any early rumours could prove to be wrong anyway!
  20. I'm sure she's learned a lesson there, as have others
  21. No-one likes me in Bedders either!!! Result! I was thinking The Grapes was looking a bit 'tatty' last time i was in there, which is a shame, coz its a nice bar otherwise. Good staff and 'Interesting' punters.
  22. I for one travel from surrounding towns to eat at wetherspoons. Before bedlington, i went to ashington, although not as regularly. On a weekend, Ashington was always on the cards when strapped for cash, because of 'spoons, but also because of the many clubs. 'Spoons was a great place to meet, and have a sensible conversation, before moving on to livelier places, and was the main reason we went to ashington. Now, the nights out are in bedlington because most of "My Crowd" (If 2 people can be called a crowd! ) live there. I asked in the Wharton, and was told they were seeing a definite trade increase on a weekend??
  23. Perhaps people are coming from out of town to drink there eh Merc? I was in on sunday again, and it was really quite busy! A few tables spare, but a good atmosphere.
