I believe this photo to be from The Market Place Club (or perhaps The Top Club), probably late 1940's/early 1950's. It captures the boys making their own entertainment with a sing-a-long. That's my Dad (Stan Kidd) on the right of the quartet, giving his all. Did the pubs & clubs shout last orders at 10pm in those days? You can also see my Grandad Kidd (known to one and all as Sep) in the bottom left corner of the photo. Can anyone else put a name to any of the others in the photo?

Saw this shop the other day called "Islamic Books & Souvenirs" so decided to have a look inside, almost immediately two men dressed in dresses came over and asked what I wanted, I said 'Do you have a copy of the book on Great Britain's policy regarding deportation of immigrants? One of the gentlemen said, "F**k off get out and never come back", I said "yes, that's the one, how much?"

Worth checking out some of their other DVD's on YouTube, Blues/Rock with a dynamic Soul singer, also check out their web-site. These Vintage Trouble boys are superb live and have been supporting some mega-stars on various tours to get themselves noticed. I prefer the slower, soul sounding tracks, but they have gently built up a terrific act and sound.

I wasn't going to go to the "Club" to watch, I thought I'll just ignore it and wait till it's over. BUT, I couldn't stay away and i belatedly got to the club just before half time. Just in time to see Colocinni barge Fletcher over and reduce us to 10 men and a goal down. I bought a pint and then tortured myself throughout the 2nd half. Lucky Black Cats, again we made it easy for them. Once the 3rd. goal went in I just emptied my glass and buggered off home, which is where I should have stayed all along. Will I (we) ever learn. Apparently not. When do we play Norwich again?

Screen shot The red circle is where I think the photo was taken from, the other 2 red shapes are the 2 houses in the shot.

bedlington.pdf Eggy and Bayardm, in my opinion the photo was taken half-way down Bedlington Bank (roughly where the old Outcast Bridge used to be), looking down river. The house on the top of the hill in full view ahead would have been Milbank House and then the building below it, which is on the road/pathway that leads down to the woods from the back of Beattie Road was a small holding that I remember had fields sloping down to the river-bank. If you look on Google Earth at the Satellite image then you can see a browner/darker bit of vegetation which used to have crops in the late 1950's / early 1960's. I'll try and do a screen shot to highlight what I'm struggling to explain.

Absolutely Deja Vu, all over again. But it's not all bad news for me. I just thank my lucky stars that I had Sergio Aguero as captain in my Fantasy Football team.

Amble has tried really hard and their efforts are working. Much improved Cafe's & Restaurants & Ice Cream Parlours, excellent Pod's for small retailers. I've just voted for them.

Hi Reedy, yes my Dad's Dad was Christopher Septimus Kidd (known to one and all as Sepp) and as well as being Chairman of Bedlington Mechanics (when they played their home games at Milne Park), I believe he was something like "The Colliery Engineer" for the Dr. Pit. He and the family lived in No. 1 Dr. Pit Cottages, right on the Pit Head so that he could be called upon at short notice, should there be any engineering issues to be solved.

I recently posted this photo from 1929 from the Whitley Memorial School on Facebook / Bygone Bedlington. It has created some interest and whilst my Dad (Stan Kidd) is 3rd. from the right, front row, I've asked if anyone else can identify any of the others. That well known "whiz" of photos & screen shots "Eggy" suggested I also put the photo on here to see if HPW or Reedy (via his Dad) or anyone else can help spot and name any of the other children.

Eggy, I'm pretty sure the name of the Raa was Shiney Row, it's the only one where the Pit Head is directly up the Raa, with the coal houses & netties across the road from the houses.
