  1. Recently came across this Network and I had a good feeling when I gave stuff away rather than taking it to the local tip.

The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 5,319 groups with 9,202,164 members around the world, and next door to you. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns and neighborhoods. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by local volunteers.

  2. The UK voted to leave the EU by 52% to 48%. People in Northumberland voted strongly in favour of leaving the European Union. Perhaps our local councilors can advise us of where they stand on that?

As we have some great Independent representatives they could maybe advise and guide us on their views. ;)

If that is Ian Lavery he's got a big gob! loudest wins! bad hairdo guy didn't have the answers , unprepared ! Boris is more entertaining. Interviewer was terrible, would that be a BBC guy?

Yes Vic, That is our MP although I suspect that he has plans to be PM. ;)

  4. I have a family history that stems from a community of Bedlington Miners who have always supported the Labour Party. I am however , not a fan of our MP Ian Lavery. I also do not know a miner who supports him. I do respect him if he has registered as a Dementia Friend and if it was not a publicity stunt then I applaud him.

  5. If you check the likes of TripAdvisor you will no doubt come across the best things to do in Bedlington however who in the town would agree with their suggestions.

Perhaps we can suggest things that we should preserve for the town. i.e.

    1. Bedlington History Society

    2. Bedlington Community Centre

    3. Bedlington Social Club

    4. Bedlington.Co.UK

    5. Bedlington Library

It would be great to see the people of Bedlington support Scott & Kay in their efforts to raise £2,000 to help support Charlotte-Rose through her treatment.

Charlotte-Rose 'rang the bell recently' so thanks to all who supported her through her treatment.☺️

  7. A Dementia Friends session was held at Bedlington Community Centre earlier today and there was a poor turnout as far as the residents, businesses and service providers of Bedlington were concerned.

The event was hosted by MP Ian Lavery and Helen Williams of the Alzheimer's Society and I am sure all those in attendance will now have a better understanding of how they can help those living with dementia.

Over 2.5 million people have become Dementia Friends. You could be one too!

  8. Latest plans for the election boundary changes have been released and the national press are naturally focusing on Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn. If the changes take place it will be interesting to see if Ian Lavery fights to retain the Ashington / Berwick seat or pops across the Wansbeck to take over a safe seat from Ronnie Campbell who plans to step down before the next election.

  9. Today is World Alzheimer's Day and perhaps we should give a thought to those that are suffering or are having to deal with Alzheimer's and Dementia. It is difficult for many of us to understand how to deal with such issues as nobody has ever prepared us for the changes facing our loved ones.

Some of the things we take for granted when communicating with friends and family may not be the best way to approach those that have dementia. The below link advises on 7 things that we should not say to somebody with dementia.

  10. The Lidl mini-roundabout on Schalksmuhle Road is a nightmare... although it may be that it is all the drivers who do not appear to have a clue about giving way that causes the problems. There is often a Mexican standoff that then ends up as a dangerous free for all.

  11. I see that a double cable has been placed on three locations on Victoria Terrace. I believe these are for measuring vehicle speed as well as for measuring the volume of traffic. The results can be used as justification for lowering the speed limit or installing a speed camera so it may be that the petition for road humps will receive attention. Unfortunately a little too late for the family of Bethany however the efforts of hemsted85 and others should be commended.
