  1. It keeps us oot a mischief HPW - wat wud wi de withoot thw www - just keep pressing and guessing and we will get there in the end - I din't recognise myself on the one and only senior school photo that was sent to me!

  2. Just now, Joe McNally said:

I thought no.17 looked  a bit like me (Joe McNally) but obviously not. Jimmy Burke (No.18) is my cousin but I don't think we were in the same class. I would have been 8 years old  at the time and Miss Onscavich was my first teacher in 1950.

@Joe McNally- I didn't attend St. Bedes but Alex Third - No 3 in the photo - was my mate and the  same age as me - I was born Oct 1948. I know when we were teenagers I met the lad 'Stash' = No 4, a couple of times. A big lad for his age and I think his christian name was Stan and I think he had a polish surname.

  3. @Rigger thanks - I will add it into the Bedlington Grammar School Album. If you like I could also post it on the Bedlington Remembered Facebook  group site and see if we can find out what year it was?

Pupils that started after passing the 13+ exam would start in the 'X' stream =  class 3X and those that had passed the 11+ would be in 1A or 1α (Alpha). After the 1st year the 2nd year classes were 2A & 2B and then up to 5A & 5B. After the 5th year anyone staying on to sit 'A' levels, from 5A, %b & 5X would start the 6th Form in the Lower 6th and then the Upper 6th for their last year.

  4. @Rigger - do you want your photo added into the Bedlington Grammar School 'Album' (page 2 of Historic Bedlington)

or do you just wish to leave it free standing in Historic Bedlington?

Only the person that created the Album can 'Add Images' as a new entry into that album. However other members can add photos and comments to an existing Image in an album created by another member.

  5. @Bandsman1966 - on the Facebook group - Morpeth History Matters - I noticed this photograph, without names, posted by Bill Collingwood saying his dad & uncle were in the photo :- No 3 Bill Collingwood & No 20 Joe Collingwood.

Margaret Maylia also commented :- my dad is third from the right (No 33) Bill Leightley or some new him as Bill Tyler he played the double bass.

  6. Marilyn & Bob Muter, off the Barrington, Barnt' n  memories and stuff!! Facebook group have posted a full photo, that has not been flipped, and the names from the flipped image have been added. Previously it was thought that the fancy dress event was for the Queen's coronation in 1953 but now as more of the kids, and their approximate ages, have been established this photo was c1949.
