................ Eddie may be able to shed some light on those tales
@moe19 - reply from Eddie was :- 'Jim and Betty had a house in Wooler next to the Tankerville arms. The also had a property in Palma Majorca where they spent most times. They had a retirement party at the Pub which we all attended. Then a young lad from Crammy surname Davy. Eric's son who was a mate of mine took over the Pub for a short time. Then he left and it was boarded up. Before it went up in flames in the early hours. I watched it from my window in Hastings Tce. Aye suspicious to say the least.
This is at the retirement party .with my impression of Betty with Barmaid Pauline.
ps - I suppose we should now get back to Easter Eggs

Eddie Hindhaugh posted the photo, middle right, as the night before the pub closed for good but he does not give the date. He does say the pub 'accidently' caught fire and burnt down in 1992.
I've added a couple more, from Eddie, to the composition. The bottom left photo shows that poster you posted @moe19 and it had three names (Sugar, Ernie & Danny) with it but there are 4 in the photo so don't know which three are named.
The bottom right shows another room, I think, of the pub.

Oh happy days! Child bride and JoJo I certainly can remember! I've been having second thoughts about Billy the goat though. Maybe he was called Benny. Can you throw any light on the matter?
One of the regulars at The Albion (The Folly) was Eddie Hindhaugh and he often comments on the Sixtownships Facebook group and I remembered he had posted some photos of inside the pub. So I asked him if he could remember the name of the goat and you were right to be thinking Billy or Benny - Eddie replied with :- Billy and Benny . There was 2 Goats. And 2 German Shepherds. Joe Joe was one . The other lived outside. As a guard Dog. + there was always a load of crap hanging from the ceiling.
This is a compilation of the photos from the Albion that Eddie has posted and I have added the names of who he said they were :-

Regarding the shankhouse comments etc!
Shankhouse main roundabout and part of its surrounding area was in the past mainly considered as Shankhouse, but gets very confusing as Shankhouse social Club was situated in High Pit if it's still open, and every other person you speak to would offer different views. (I would say most people today just call it cramlington) but Hartford Village is not part of it as I know, so that’s it to the best of my knowledge, as someone out there could be better informed than myself.
2 hours ago, Vic Patterson said:Wasn't Shankhouse up just past Three horse shoes pub? top of the Laverock hall road, past the first roundabout.
The two things to look out for when searching for Shankhouse - 1) The Albion Pub and 2) Hastings Terrace.
The Albion pub, demolished years ago and houses built, was between Hastings Terrace, Shankhouse and the Cramlington Fire Station. Both Hastings Terrace and the Fire Station building (no longer used by the fire brigade ) still exist.
If you came out of The Hastings pub, turned right went past the Fire Station along the road about half a mile and turned right at the small row of houses = Bog Houses and pass them about quarter of a mile to the Horton Road. Cross the Horton Road and you are at The Three Horse Shores.

Info found in the Morpeth Herald by two Facebook Bedlington Remembered members :-
Margaret Williamson :-
Found this from the Morpeth Herald 1909 -
... BEDLINGTON ROYAL OAK A.F.C. The above club held a supper and social at their headquarters, Red Lion Inn, on Saturday night last. The chair was taken by Mr. Robert Thompson. A good repast was ably served by the host, Mr. J. Turnbull), after which the evening ...Ovalteeny :-
As part of my research into football in Bedlington I have quickly looked at The Morpeth Herald for 11th. April 1908 and found a league table for The Wansbeck League, see image that shows Bedlington Royal Oak having an narrow lead, but with still 5 games to play. I'll have a further look tomorrow to see what the final table was and also read up some of the copy to see if I can find out more about the team/club.

My excuse is that I didn't write the software, but Andy might have had a hand in the authorship. My excuse is that IF I'd been capable of writing it, then I most certainly wouldn't have written it in PHP! [private joke there]
Me not Hyper either - but it might just be embedded in me

Reedy asked his dad, born 1928, and Reedy reported back with :- Although before his time he thinks the building to the right of the clock house was a wages or timekeepers office. There was a shop on the Bebside bank on the opposite side of the bridge at the bottom of the hairpin bend run by a family called Munley.
Lynne Watson - replied - Paul Reed thank you - that will be it. I do apologise for getting the shop in the wrong place 🙂

The following comment was posted on Facebook - Bedlington Remembered group :-
Lynne Watson This is the photo I mentioned the other day in a different thread. My aunt worked in Cobbledicks shop which is the one on the very right of the photo almost hidden. My Dad found this photo many years ago and got a copy made.
This image shows more of the building :-
Has anyone ever heard of Cobbledicks ?

@Rigger - was the Bedlington Community Centre - Creatives Group, that have done a lot of research on Bedlington soldiers to create their 'Poppy Map' one of the usual sources you have tried?
They produced a list of Bedlington Soldiers' 'Poppy Map' and I believe they have retained info that they uncovered in their research :-

Date of photo updated to October 1951 following Ovalteeny's research at the Woodhorn Colliery Archives - the photo was found whilst looking through some old copies of The Blyth News/Ashington Post and he came across this very same photo. It was in an edition from late 1955 but it stated that it was a retrospective photo from October 1951.

Thank you eggy! Far too technical for me!
Too technical for me - just checked and the upload photo is back to 34 x 25.5 - I'll ask the wife, or perhaps 3g can deviate from the original topic and explain this

No typo! Small dog! (Why is it that way around? The original isn’t!)
Couldn't prove it Steve, but if you take a copy or check the original, your photo is H34" x W25.5" so the system might have turned it 90 degrees to fit. Made him back into a small dog = H6.0 x W4.5
However first attempt even though I had downloaded the large image; shrunk it to 6x4.5, saved it the uploaded the new file, using 'png' format this system created the file portrait but back to 34 x 25.5.
Saved the downloaded file in 'jpg' format - deleted, via edit, the uploaded png file and selected the jpg file for uploading - this time file size has still altered but only to 7" x 5" (approx).

Through Ovalteeny's research and the memory of John Reed ( @Reedy's dad) some more names - plus this team is not a Mechanics team and now - Ovalteeny says :- ' From team sheets I've seen in old copies of the Morpeth Herald I would say that this is West Sleekburn Welfare FC.

No positive proof Ovaleeny - I posted your full comment on the Bedlington Cricket Club site :-
https://www.facebook.com/bedlingtoncricketclub/?fref=nf
and one response from - Mal Jovi Hemsted - was :- My dad says this is the lowest he’s heard of
Mal's dad is Susan Hemsted's cousin Billy who is about our age and been involved with BCC all his life. Billy's dad Billy, along with many more of the Hemsted family, as you know have been involved with the club for donkeys years.

@Rigger - one of the Barnton Admin team - Alan Dickson (in his early 70's) - that knows the area very well replied to the question I put to Geoff on the site :-
Alan DicksonGroup admin That stood in the dip just after Sunniside gannin to Bedlington Geoff,
But on the left side of the road, next to the Netherton wagon way which bi-sected the road.
Think it was used at one time for the Barnt,n pit office. -
@Rigger - checked on the Barrington, Barnt' n memories and stuff!! Facebook site to see if there was any mention of Sunnyside Cottages that I believed was next to the Willow Bridge area and the people from Barrington often linked that area with Barrinton. This photo was on the site but the person that posted it says he can't remember where he got it from - I don't believe him! When I saw the photo (and it looked as though it was a book page) I recognised it from Evan Martin's book - Images of England Bedlingtonshire - Page 46 :- copy from the book with a bit of info :-
