Just found out about these proposals. As real ale fans my husband and I are looking forward to visiting the pub. We have lived in Bedlington for a couple of years and we think it is a great town with lots of potential. We look forward to more improvements to th town over the coming months.

They have a Facebook page @Frogmela   but the link can't be embedded into this posting because there is 'no-status' at the URL https://www.facebook.com/pg/TheBoxWoodTap/photos/?tab=album&album_id=371965029866578 - and tha's not me saying that bit's what the system said when I copied the link into this comment!

  2. Don't care if they are in use or redundant but I think there should be a law that states every dwelling has to keep their original chimney. Not for creating public sector employment but for identifying old photographs. As chimney stacks and pots are disappearing identifying old street views becomes more difficult.

Let's start a national campaign :- The  uphold Chim chiminey, chim chiminey, chim chim cheree  group.  The TUC CCCCCC.

Does @Symptoms sweep his  Chim chiminey, chim chiminey, chim chim cheree?

  3. @Andy Millne - a member, Stephen Collingwood, on the Bedlington remembered Facebook site posted :- My granny was born and lived in clock house... that stone was above the doorway... when the house was demolished a band stand was built on the free wood side. This stone was incorporated into the bandstand. When the band stand was demolished god knows what happened to the stone'

This photo of the Clock House was posted on the Facebook sixtownships site and I have pasted the image from the newspaper article onto it :-

  4. Copied the comment from Andy onto the topic on Bygone Bedlington Facebook group and the first response was :-  'things are not set in stone yet it will go ahead and the gentleman that own it are lovely but there are some discrepancies in the plans thst need to be ironed out as the residential property next door is owned by our family'

  5. Andy the link in your post does take you to the Active Northumberland site but the Sporting Club of Bedlington still shows :-

SPORTING CLUB BEDLINGTON - OPENING SOON

    ACTIVE NORTHUMBERLAND

    LEISURE CENTRES

SPORTING CLUB BEDLINGTON - OPENING SOON  - there is a list of opening times for all the other centers but nothing for the Sporting Club of Bedlington.

Not that I have any intention of taking part in any activities I was just checking to see if there was any info on the site about the swimming facilities that were promised. Many members on the Facebook groups have often complained about the lack of sporting facilities and I would have added the link on those sites IF the site was showing a timetable of events and opening times. At the moment this link would just frustrate and wind the members up more.
