  7. From your initial comment I am sure you have done loads of searching on the www only to find there's not a lot you can do, even if the owner of the gun is not following the NFU guidelines. I know complaints take ages to get seen and normally the response to the majority of complaints is 'current guidelines are not being broken etc. etc' but I still think it's worth you, and every other resident in the area, filling in a complaint and requesting the noise levels of the gun be measured to ensure they are within current NCC/Eu/NFU/...... guidlines. Attached the West Riding Guidelines extract from their PDF document as it's often handy to use/copy council words when complaining.
  8. Never found anything on the www to suggest a previous site. Just the info in Wikipedia about the new community school that gives a bit of history :- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedlingtonshire_Community_High_School Thought the site the ex head boy, Mansel Dinnis, created would have had some facts but it's all photos, the earliest from the 40s : - http://www.sempersursum.co.uk/ I'm just a www searcher - never been to the Woodhorn Museum and Northumberland Archives :- http://www.experiencewoodhorn.com/

The school Latin motto - Semper Sursum - translated in Google will return 'Always Up'. As far as I remember we were told, by the school, it translated to 'Ever Upwards'. The school wall plaque has the date 1925 but the school, info says it opened in 1926. The school anthem was written by one of the teachers, Miss Edna Humphrey, in 1946.

Village school c1930 - comment by Maureen Quait :- 'If that is the Infant School yard in the foreground it must be before they built the air raid shelter' & Lawrence Pattison commented :- I would think that the air raid shelters would have been built in 1940 [That was when the air raids started].
