  10. Now for the throwing the spanner in the works bit Vic! Jim Hardy has now posted his list of names that he has sellotaped on the back of the original photo. Naturally jumping back a mere 66 years there are bound to be mix ups with some of the names and there are a few differences to what HPW and your good wife recalled. It's times like these when technology can be thrown out the window. We need a large table, print outs and all people concerned debating, and naturally some alcohol to fuel the debate. I have update the names and will add the revised edition + Jim's photo of the names to this comment. When Jim posted this photo he part of his comment was - 'Whitley Memorial junior 1950'. When I replied and said thank you for posting the original I added, diplomatically, - 'this is the Village School, isn't it?' He replied with the a one line comment - 'Whitley memorial junior 1950'. So even tho it says on the board within the photo 'BEDLINGTON VILLAGE INFANTS 1950 CLASS 2' Jim says different. I'm sticking with HPW and you. I'm still using my Desktop PC Vic, it's the only bit of hardware I have. Mine was purchased a mere 8 years ago, and the 19" screen + large keyboard is wonderful. Just got to hope they see me out! Now the pics - updates to Nos 9,10,11,12,16,19,21,24,25,27,41 & 42 - some just spelling, others a different name :-
  11. Vic - unfortunately - a photo of the original photo is what has been uploaded. I have added it here, without any numbers & names so you can get a 'clean' copy if you want one. If you want me to add the numbers & names to this one just say so and I will do it.
  12. Extracts, with info on the private school for girls that was built around 1850, from the Bedlington book by Stephen Martin that James found
  13. Working on it Vic, but no response yet. Unfortunately most people these days take photos of photos to upload and the resulting image not always in focus. I still have an old Desktop PC with scanner (D11" x H7" x W17") connected. No doubt when I go it will go with me.
  14. and on the Bygone Bedlington site a comment from Jim Hardy - Hi Alan.i have an original photo, which I put in the NEWS POST LEADER, on Feb 19. 1998.. I think No 42 ,is George Wilson.? And No 41 is Jimmy brown ?? I think he is the millfield ..??brown
  15. As it appears the system was reloaded today I had another go at creating an album and using the 'choose files.......' option within stage 1 of the Create New Album sequence. Failed as before. Following that fail I did go on to create a new album and uploaded the file at stages 2 to 3 without problems.
  16. I have been creating an Album, on this site, for each of the schools in the Bedlington area. Whilst looking at an 1896 map of Bedlington around the area of Hollymout Hall & Bell's Place I noticed there was a 'Sch.' identified. I have not found any further info, on the www, about this school. I have not checked the historical records held at the Woodhorn Museum. The label 'Sch.' does not appear on the 1920 map but the label 'Misn. Rm.' appears to have taken it's place.
  17. From the album: Bedlington Station 1st School

Photo from John Dawson's collection - sixtownships, and names from No 6 in the photo, Robert Walker.
