  1. Hey Merc, go on u tube and put in "Simon's cat".
  2. HPW, with reference to your "always problem". "Their" is a belonging word, there is never an apostrophe "s" after it. However "there is" can be shortened to "there's". Easy way to remember it is that the apostrophe always replaces a letter.
  3. Mrs Orloff (who used to work in HR) tells me that the ad has probably been approved because the ethnic groups mentioned are under represented in the organisation. If they are, such ads are allowed so that the organisation can bring their equality stats up to proportionate levels. Doesn't mean it's right, of course...
  4. Message to moderators, is there a problem with "live", 'cos it's not working for me?
  5. Wow, how exciting! Road works on Bedlington Live! On a Sunday? I can't see any work going on.
  6. Ovalteeny, My sister's name was Margaret Hancox also known as "Blossom". A name she was given by a teacher. I was at Westridge from '62 till '67 and she was 3 years older than me.
  7. Eggy, my sister went to Westridge with David Hetherington and John Shelley. Don't know if they were in the same year though! If I remember rightly David lived just up the street from us.
  8. Hi Eggy, I did see those pics with names added. I couldn't name any more of them. Does anyone know what became of Melvyn Jameison?
  9. Whatever you do 3G, don't hold back. Tell it like it is 'cos we like it.
  10. I am just waiting for Columbia and Russia to realise that all of our mines are closed, then the subsidies that the aforementioned governments applied to the price of their coal will be removed, and the price will soar. The same goes for steel. The Tories can't see further than their noses, unless it is to put more money into the rail network than it cost us to run when we owned it! But then again, quite a lot of Tory members have shares in the various rail companies, and the shareholders must of course be considered!!!
  11. I remember the grey diesel Bedford bus, but my favourite one they had was the Bedford model OB (coach) which had a petrol engine (4 litres) made about 1949 -1951, I can still remember that delightful wine as it gathered speed, due to that the Bedford OB remains my favourite commercial vehicle in all it's guises.
  12. Torwood 13, I gather that your Dad was a lorry owner/driver. If so it was my Mam, Doreen that used to clean for your Mam and slurp endless cups of tea when your Mam came up to our house to catch up on scandal probably. Hello to you by the way!
  13. Bang on Symptoms, tell it like it is.
  14. merc, will you be going to East Kirkby on Sunday?
  15. merc, I have an Austin A30 and an Austin A35, both on the road but I will be taking the A35 as it is the best condition and has done under 6000 miles from new.
  16. merc, if you are at your sisters on 12th July, there is a classic car meet at East Kirkby. They fire up "Just Jane" at this meet, this together with loads of classic cars is a good day out. I myself will be there with one of my classics.
  17. HPW, I remember Dodds, or T Dodds tranport named after the owner Tom Dodds. He lived at 5 Cambo Avenue. My Mum used to clean for Tom's wife Kath. His son was called Tom also, so he may still be around. Tom senior used to favour AEC trucks and I distinctly remember his 1950's Mammoth Major.
  18. A friend of mine from Ashington has had an Austin A30 van stolen at the weekend. It is in Westminster green and only has a drivers seat in it as they were sold in the 50's. I won't give the reg number as I think it would be a waste of time for obvious reasons. If anyone knows or hears of anything, please contact Police or me with info. Thank you for your help in this matter.
  19. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to one and all.
  20. All I will say about Tony Benn is read his biography. (and no, it is NOT an AUTO-biography). I had my eyes opened big time as to the skull-doggery that went on and still does.
  21. I understand that the Thornton Brothers had premises on Red Row, would that be the family of Walter that went to Westridge?
