  1. The more you say, the wilder the assumptions, the bigger the lies, the less credible you become and the hole gets even bigger, either that or the panto season has started earlier.. It's best that I don't engage with you on any level, anymore. The rule of order,"Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level, and defeat you with experience!",has never been more appropriate..
  2. I'm unsure as to what happened to Fidelity.. Here's another brand for you that was part of Thorn for a time, 'Goodmans'. I had a module 90 tuner/amp with their badge on it, yet it was possilble to buy an Ultra and Marconiphone badged version of it.
  3. Because it is their preferred choice of listening, and in the main is performed by black artists. Apart fron crossover R&B (hi jacked term)l which is represented commercially, the genre is a niche market..and could never be supported anywhere in the NE as there is no black population to speak of This is not rocket science.
  4. If a topic is moved to a more appropriate section, why is there no notification stating this is the case?, or have I missed it?
  5. What's the hell's wrong with the moderators on here? A thread about a true British manufacturing company is removed. Why exactly? It was historic, informative and factual... Yet, gutter sniping, accusations bordering on libel remain... Is this the role of a Global Moderator?
  6. Yes, the R&B/Urban Flava for Bedlington's Black Community, rinsin' dem out, in a drum n' bass stylee. Hell yes, an audience winner! :-)
  7. You know as well as I do, Monsta and Ultra Radio are 'connected'. And therefore may I suggest you know Simon Ferson (that self acclaimed radio professional in the NE), so perhaps you can give some illumination as to his credentials.
  8. Here's a question for you radio enthusiasts; Ultra Radio is the project of a Simon Ferson. What's his radio background?
  9. Oh Please....you are part of his group on facebook!!.. Three words for you, Orange Crate and Anorak
  10. After I'd posted the Glow Worm boiler connection, I was intrigued how this came to be. Thorn Industries became part of the TI Group, which was Tube Investments as I remember. This was a very diverse company, but IIRC, all quality products. After market exhausts under the TI Bainbridge brand, were far better engineered, better fit and better steel, than the market leader at the time, Quinton Hazell. I just realised too, that to this day I'm using some TI products, everyday. Both my oven and my microwave, both incidentally 30yrs old, are made by TI Creda, as is my tumble dryer. In 25yrs all the dryer has ever needed was a replacement drive belt (in 2007). I do appreciate quality, well engineered products. Alas, we will never see these British made products again. But Ultra lives on, albeit in a slightly different guise Ultra
  11. I can only hope the output of your radio station is more tangible than your efforts on here. And I mean tangible in every sense of the word ;-)
  12. Just remembered, Thorn owned the Marconi brand too IIRC...
  13. Yes, of course..it was without the 'e'. Thanks for this illuminating piece of electronic history! Love it..Did they own the Fidelity brand too? Thorn also owned Glow Worm heating as well. I had a 75,000BTU (space saver lol) boiler, until about 3yrs ago, when the heat exchanger finally rotted away. It was a robust design and gave sterling service for 30yrs or so. I couldn't complain about that at all. How many of today's boilers, will last this long? Interesting too that you mention your design knowledge re:restoration of Ultra RF products. A friend of mine in Morpeth is an expert on this sort of stuff and frequently picks up sets from the likes of, Ultra, Roberts, Bush etc. for very little money from Tynemouth market. He restores them to pristine condition... Great stuff, cheers
  14. Again, your ignorance in broadcasting matters is evident. Century, although owned by GMG had more that just a name change. The Real format is completely different, as is the line up. Surely, with you being an experienced radio professional and all that, I thought you would have identified this. Your question, was not asked of Vicky, was it?. Read the thread. Furthermore, as you well know, Vicky is more than capable of speaking her own mind, albeit with things you don't want to hear. But thanks for outing yourself, it was fun.
  15. As Century doesn't exist anymore, that's one good reason. Evidently, you're not up to speed with radio in the NE.
