  1. But have you noticed how they keep their heads down and don't have any input on these controversial matters on this website? Never mind we'll be hearing plenty from them when they want our vote.
  2. Like The new shop fronts on the main street are looking great, I've just noticed the similarity to the Wharton in the old days!!
  3. Looks like were thinking on the same wavelength Cyril, but there are still tickets left for the "Guess the Year of Removal" competition, Why not try your luck? First prize is a Gallon of Diesel and the lucky runner up will receive a Hot Pasty from Greggs.
  4. Jack Bruce, Bass player in the 60s supergroup Cream at the Tyne Theatre last night...........very good
  5. There's been no progress for three weeks now Cyril, we've still got the pile of rubbish in the Town Centre. It will look a lot better by mid August after we've had rain and its covered with lush green weeds. Neither Ladbrokes or Charlie Chisolm are taking bets on a removal date,so maybe the members on this forum should run a "Guess The Year for Removal" competition among ourselves.
  6. Tops of a good week for them, we should all go out and get some cheap booze before they get their price changes forced through.I'll hire the Jazz Band and we can have a party when they get kicked out.
  7. Yes you got it in one, Unfortunately it is the same Conservation Area. If you care to look across the road from these 2 eyesores you cannot miss the third one which was manufactured by the company that promised to build a new Supermarket. The former Spend n Save/Fancy That shop must come top of the Slum League. Tesco has not only turned this place into the sight that it is,they have also denied the Bedlington folk of a business that hasn't been replaced. Keep checking your emails I'm sure somebody from the council will get onto you with all the answers.
  8. Well BigTessi, that really is a brainteaser, If you would like to pop along to the next council meeting Im sure your councillors, as always, will answer any questions or concerns that you may have. They may even respond through this website as some of them use it on a regular basis. In the interim period, you could pop into Ladbrooks and see what odds they are giving on whether, or when the pile of debris that has been left there will be removed, now that everything with any monetary value has gone .By the way, I'm sure things will come to an early conclusion as this eyesore is in the centre of the Conservation Area.
  9. I was in there yesterday for a coffee and sarnie its spot on, two gooduns next door to each other now. :icecream:
  10. Your just out there Keith, I can remember the bus was running 5 minutes late that day.
  11. OK then Merc. Lets have the year, time of day and the name of the Bus Driver
  12. By the way Pete, Dont know if your up to speed with whats going on here regarding the Leisure Centre but Ashington is in line for a new one at a cost of £20 million when they already have one. Bedlington who has never had one will get nothing.
  13. Pete, I think you missed the point here,my suggestion of putting them at the new leisure centre was merely sarcasm aimed at the incompetent councillors that claim to represent us Bedlington folk. Of course I don't want the gates or anything else for that matter to go to Ashington but until we can get these people replaced we'll just have to weather the storm, hopefully better than the gates have.
  14. Pete, The problem we have with putting them in a Mining Museum is that the museum just happens to be located in Ashington. Unfortunately the people who preside over our beloved town have no interest in Bedlington and whenever there is any investment in the former Wansbeck District it will usually end up in Ashington.Youv'e probably just given them an idea now that will be put on the agenda for the next meeting. Perhaps they will look nice as the entrance to the new Leisure Centre, to be built in ASHINGTON after all the repair bill for the Gates will be a pittance added to the £20 million cost of the Centre.
  15. Well Malcolm and Brett, I've seen the picture and I can assure you its nowt like the pictures on page 3 of the other Sun :dribble:
  16. I think we need 3gee to help us here, It looks like that works wagon parked outside is being used to clear out Millne House and there is a co op vehicle (3 wheeler Scooter) parked outside. I think the co op took over that building after Mr Millne. C'mon 3gee help us.???? I'm guessing at 1970.
  17. I must be getting old, thought I had a full on view of the store but cannot find it, anyway this snack bar should jog some memories KEITH ? This photo was taken in 1970. Not sure when the second pic was taken.
  18. I have a photo of this store which I'll post in a couple of weeks when I get home.At the moment I'm sweating my nuts of in South Africa.
