  1. This is not a relative or family friend, just she's had a letter arrive through our door addressed to her. We've lived here 14 years and this is the first time we've heard of her. Postcode ne22 6dj, it's a letter from dvla so dont want her getting caught for no vehicle tax.

    Thanks

  2. Well I had a rather heated exchange with Mr Lavery and when I told him that all the investment  goes to Ashington his words were  "The last thing  Ashington got was the Sports Centre in 1974"   When I asked him  "What was the last thing Bedlington got" he couldn't answer. Its worth a mention that after the crowds dispersed I spoke to an ex high ranking member of the local Labour party and his words were  " This demo will do nothing other than cost Ian a couple of thousand votes, but he has a ten thousand majority and you will all be standing here again in ten years time blowing your whistles"...........I feel that he could be right if Ian gets re-elected.

Foxy, I was about to put the following statement on FB regarding the lack of leisure facilities in Bedlington

    quote ->

I'd like qualification on  Labours statement of in the last two years they're aiming for enhanced sports facilities in Bedlington when Ashington is getting a multi million pound centre and Bedlington has nothing. The dust hadn't settled on the old Asda site when building work began on the new centre, I'm no expert on building but surely work from architects, surveys and tenders went out long before the demolition began ?

I'm not aiming this personally at Mr Lavery, but at our council in general
  3. I'd quite happily throw the TV out of the window as there's nothing but utter rubbish on, however in keeping with the point in question, I'd rather *NOT* pay a forced tax on channel (s) I don't watch.

I had bother with the Tv license people for 5 years threatening court action, detector van visits and all sorts of nonsense when I did have a TV, but didn't have it plugged into an aerial socket. Each time I was told that I had a device capable of receiving a TV signal, and each time i'd reply I have a device capable of holding milk but I don't have a cow, I buy it when I need it and don't pay a yearly/monthly fee for the pleasure.

  4. Since a lot of campaigns gain a lot of exposure via social media, I thought I'd start (vodka told me to) with sending a tweet to Tesco in the form of
@Tesco I understand you still own the building in #Bedlington, if this is the case then may I on behalf of our town request you sell up asap

140 characters is an unfortunate limitation, but if enough voices whisper then surely they will bow to pressure, worth a shot if nothing else, and only did it cos I care for our town and there's bugger all on telly

  5. As I write this, we've had road works and 'temporary' traffic ligts on Stakeford Road (Welywn Bridge) for over three weeks, yet no sign of ANY work getting done. This seems commonplace in the North East, it causes congestion, inconvenience, and the distraction is a danger, it's only a matter of tie before it causes an accident. Other counties manage to get such works done within 48 hours - why can't ours?

I was wondering what was going on with these lights, very annoying. Try fighting with the A1 traffic through Dunston every day :(

  6. if anyone knows of a lad called Daniel Brown who has lost a blue Nokia Lumia phone, I know where it is (not holding to ransom) it was found on the 20 acres this afternoon (23/10/2013).

Please PM me if anyone knows who he is/where he lives and I will arrange to have him collect or deliver it to him.

    Cheers

  7. Tried Ubuntu from it's early incantations and found it very easy to use, however when they slipped in the amazon search feature and the (for me) very uncustomizable default desktop I binned it and went for Linux Mint, very easy for the novice user. I've tried a few flavours over the years, ranging from RedHat, Mandrake, SuSE, Mint and a few others I can't remember the name of.

  8. Please, Keith, not at this time in the morning! Very very funny.

I'm pleased I'm veggie, Foxy, so I am not saddled with the burden of jockeying for position at the checkout where the queues seemed to be stalled due to irate customers who mustang around for their money back. Still, you can chew on some Tick Tacks while you wait.

Veggies aren't safe either Keith, apparently the veggie burgers have traces of Uniquorns in them

  9. There was a joke going round years ago that the only things in Bedlington were solicitors, supermarkets and pubs

You're forgetting the florists, tattoo parlours and hairdressers which we have too many of.....

    Cheers
