  1. Why in the name of all that is holy do 'responsible adults' insist on trying to show kids how to cross roads by 'NOT' using the provided crossing facility next to the school they are trying to get to ???????? It winds me up that parents are encouraging their kids to cross the road 'next' to the crossing rather than stand 'AT' the crossing and waiting till the 'Green man' West End parents I'm talking about you !!!! the times I've seen some of them trying to cross without using the 'PROVIDED' crossing is uncountable, let's teach our kis the old Green Cross Code !! Please let's bring back some common sense !!!
  2. Rumours so far are true, the van which loads up the cash machine was targeted. I know someone who works there so will try and get the full lowdown on the incident.
  3. Not all animals should be tarred with the same brush
  4. It looks like the pic was taken in front of Bedlington High School, have a look at here
  5. Does anyone know what is going on with the diggers on the 20 acres field and the small field at the top of Bedlington bank ? Looks suspiciously they're preparing for building new houses
  6. But this then opens the argument, 'There's nowt to do in Bedlington'. Really we need a voice from the people who are crying out for something to do and let the council know what is wanted.
  7. And any story which ends with True Story is a myth, apparently this is one of the biggest hoaxes on the internet today. But would be funny if it really happened
  8. Wouldn't like to see the inside of there in a hurry, it's been standing empty for so long (Actually it's the only pub I've never been into in Bedlington). And I like the idea of the residents association being used, but as you say it's the kids which will get the blame and this is something that needs to stop, as long as they are being made to be undervalued then they will behave in that fashion, they ARE residents but they need something to do as well.
  9. Hi Keith, I know what you mean, is the building you're on about the old Keenleysides building, cos I was looking at that very one earlier. I thing the key here is to ask the kids directly what they want to do. For example I've been to the little pizza shop at the Station, or rather tried to as the amount of kids dumping their bokes outside then monopilising the inside was ridiculous and made it near impossible to get in and order the said pizza. They are bored, they have nothing to do but they aren't imaginitive enough to do anything other than stand on street corners, ride their lightless bikes and annoy the general public 'cos there's nothing to do or anywhere to go', and is this largely because of the satellite towns having all the stuff Bedlington wants ? Leisure centres, the dreaded fast food joints ??? And yes I do seem to remember the Domino opening for youngsters, although the clientele which frequented on Friday and Saturday were the same mental age (I was one of them)
  10. Serious propostion to the original poster of this thread (and anyone else who wants to jump in), how's about a place just to hangout (alcohol free) for under 18's, with amusements, pool table(s), food on offer ?? I'm trying to get another business off the ground, but after talking to the wife about this issue, she asked 'Well why don't you do something ?', to be honest, why the hell not ?? I'm looking at suitable locations, licenses, feasability etc. I don't think we need a fast food restaurant in Bedlington, we need something to do not just for the youngsters, but for everyones sake and sanity !! So when's the next meeting ??
  11. On the back of this, my daughter is keen to join the younger version of the Brownies (Called Rainbows) but can't find a local meet for them anywhere, do any parents know of any local meets ? I've had a look round on Google etc, but no success. Cheers
  12. Sorry that time has me putting kids to bed etc, but will try and attend one soon.
  13. Some 'thing' would be good, Bedlington has nothing to entice anyone here, unless you need to sue a bad hairdresser with a takeaway fetish. Can anyone explain the logic behind the suntan shop ?? There is now a third business there where the last 2 have locked up and left ????? And CrimsonWizards venture of a food/sandwich shop (must call in sometime) surely where others have failed there must be something you are offering, or are being bunged to open up (Although hope the venture expands) Is Bedlington a town of endless solicitors, hairdressers and takeaways ?? I'm sick to death of Bedlington having nothing, for crying out loud wasn't there a shire once called Bedlingtonshire ??? If the 'capital' has nothing then what do the 'planet' towns gain? Surely I'm not the only one who's sick of the dilapidated front street, the aforementioned hairdressers, solicitors and takeaways (although I don't want them to fail), but there must be more to us than this ???? (If this makes no sense, I've had a drink or two, but am sick of having naff all leisure facilities in Bedlington) which in turn leads to a population explosion, as there's nowt on telly, nowt else to do to avoid the telly, therefore completing the circle of chavs with tracksuits tucked into socks hanging around street corners !!!!! In my opinion, a fast food restaurant is the last thing Bedlington needs, there's some in Blyth and Ashington, like everything else you require for entertainment, get on the bus or jump in the car.
  14. They're in the ample spaces provided by the loss of former companies who have fallen by the wayside, once that place went (forgot what it was called) went in Bebside, then Homebase, Walter Wall et al moved in, probably cos of the closeness of the spine road and passing traffic on the way into Blyth, held up by those traffic lights at the entrance to the industrial estate as requested by Fergusons. Bedlington has nothing to offer any major company to move in and take a foothold, no open plan space for huge car parks, no 'fast' access to the arterial routes. And Ashingtpn keep screaming for more industrial estates, on top of the (forgotten how may thay actually have), but they want more built when there is god knows how many acres wasted on the one at North Seaton, miles of road before you actually get to the units then there's half a dozen in the middle of nowhere. Someone over optimistically developed that one hoping Homebase, B&Q et al would move in. As usual Bedlington are told to go away, the same way Oliver Twist was when he requested 'Please Sir can I have some more'
  15. A few may remember Bacci's in the Market Place.
  16. Sizsells, please make sure you're standing in the next election as you have my vote
  17. Well done Keith (and missus) my wife decided to stop when we were trying for child number 1 and hasn't touched or craved a cigarette since (5 and a half years ago), drink however well that's a different matter
  18. it may be that they deliberately keep the caller on the line, there are similar scams going round claiming you are charged £50 per minute for the same sort of thing even though the caller calls a 090xx number, all I would say is beware. Also the iGlobal lot are calling again, claiming that your computer is producing virus reports, despite them not being able to provide one shred of proof, and they will ask for the owner of the telephone line and then start their garbage script.
  19. Please see the official stance from ICSTIS at http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/output/news/postal-scam-chain-email-2009.aspx Any number originating from the UK starting with the 090 prefix, cannot charge more than £1.50 per minute Cheers
  20. Realised my mistake after I had posted and gone to bed, cheers for correcting it
  21. Sick of idiots crossing the road just down from crossings then waving their fists cos we don't stop for them, sometimes even waving their pushchairs in anger, as the saying goes, it boils the urine a bit. And thank you
  22. I suppose a claim to fame would be, if William Gooch hadn't been born and bred in Bedlington, transatlantic communication may still have been in it's infancy, also the phrase paid on the nail may never have come to fruition as it is believed the monument in the Market Place is the place is where the saying originated from, maybe stamp collectors may want to know Bedlington was the first place the Penny Black stamp was posted/received (can't remember but if you look at the post box next to Fleming's dentists it will tell you) Any other random history to tell ?
  23. Richard Head ?? Few of them dicing with death today crossing roads whilst not at crossings, then giving drivers dirty looks for daring to continue driving while they are trying to cross at a none safe place !!
  24. This is the type of inconsiderate parking I'm on about, number plate blocked out to spare the blushes of the guilty party !!!!
