  1. Nice one Charlie, you're right! Tommy was a bit of a character if i remember right and Prism weren't that bad.
  2. Canon 7D....mint! Finally decided to splash out after years of saving! Lets try and figure out how to use it now!
  3. I know i'm going back a few years here but can anybody tell me the name of the resident band at the Top Club many moons ago? I used to collect glasses there at the time and apart from the guest acts, there was always a resident band on every weekend. Got to be looking at about 1980? I think the "Compere" at the time was a great guy called "Tommy"?
  4. And here's me thinking i was going to vote on the best pint! Yorkshire Tea for me!
  5. Your carefully chosen words have not gone unnoticed TPurvis! Let us correct you on a few matters! I know fine well where you live, just as you took the liberty of zooming in on our property on Google as you mentioned, we also checked things out! The power of the Internet eh? 1) All the kids' Snowmen in the entire cul-de-sac were knocked over causing a lot of distress to all of our children on what should have been a very happy New Years Day. I've talked to 2 other neighbours who would have liked to "get our hands on them"! One of these neighbours has also been victims of anti-social behaviour at the same time and are willing to go to police if things kick off again. So, the fact you were told one snowman was foolishly knocked over takes me back to my previous posting, saying that you, as a parent, will not get the truth! 2)You know fine well, that in my earlier postings on the matter, i mentioned that one of the 15yr olds stood on my doorstep in a threatening behaviour and i told him, in no uncertain terms to get off as he decided to take a good look in my house while he was doing it. Your comments about threatening 15yr olds being "underhand" does not hold sway in this instance as one of them was the aggressor and on my doorstep at the time. The officer attending said she told his parents she did not have a problem with the fact i asked him to get leave ok! 3)"We seem to have some trouble children and adults on this estate"...as only trouble with kids have been mentioned on these postings by various contributors, i take offence if you are taring me with the same brush as these kids! 4)"Lets hope this matter ends and it does not continue in any way shape or form, because i can guarantee, any legal issues will cause more problems to an adult than a child."...the matter was ended until you decided to raise it all up again TPurvis....and don't threaten me!! The last incident was 5 months ago! What's happened since then? Have you eventually found out off your kids who they have been involved with? Just so happened to come across these postings by chance? Or is it due to you finally finding some balls 5 months later and decided to find out whats been happening around your estate? Listen, Fact:- last incident involved 4 kids but only 2 of them caused the problem Fact:- one of kids that didn't do anything was one of your sons!..didn't do anything "comprende"? Fact:- I was threatened on my own doorstep with my wife 3 yards away by one of the two kids involved by his snearing, being nose-nose and leaning forward and glancing around inside the entrance to my house! Fact:- These kids, after several warnings at school by the police liaison officers, still decided to come round and cause trouble, culminating in one of them getting a behaviour order. I don't even know why you've decided to get involved if your kids have not been in trouble? Every parent wants to protect their children and their reputation but somehow, you seem misguided here and taken it on yourself to go on a mission of some sort. I've protected by young children by calling the police at every incident as it occured. I will continue to do so, if there are any further problems. Your guarded threats about "legal action being issued causing more problems to an adult than a child" again, does not make sense as if your kid has not been involved? Are you acting on behalf of the other kids' parents or something? If your kids are not known to the police, why have you come on this forum with this line of questioning? Everybody reading this thread, and i've asked a few, are wondering why after 5 months has a parent of someone who was not directly involved and (i'm guessing, not questioned by the police), has come on here, raised this subject again and caused further distress to my wife, who, like me thought all our troubles were over? Your guarded comments and carefully chosen words we find threatening TPurvis. Instead of placing adverts for cleaners and gardeners on the site, why don't you do it yourself? You may even find it theraputic!
  6. Fell for it too! Had me worried there!
  7. As far as we're concerned, the matter IS closed thanks. There has been no problems at our door since one of the kids has received a behaviour order(not quite an ASBO) and the police visited another one and warned his parents! We don't wish to listen to some "other story" that some of the other kids have told their parents, as do you honestly believe they'll tell it as it is? As i know their names, you are not the parent of those that the police have reprimanded but i do know the names of the larger group and a simple check informs me they are friends of those involved. This does not mean they themselves have been involved, so any "misrepresentation" of your children is not the case. We are just a little curious why you think your children have been somehow been mentioned in all of this as names have NEVER been mentioned? There are many groups of kids that roam around our estate and 99%of them are great and behave themselves. As to a "completely different story", for the last 18 months or so, the police have a detailed list of all incidents including dates, times and names of those stopped and questioned in the area at the time. They also have recordings of all calls to their office of incidents happening at the time. We have the full support of the local police and have received routine call-ins and checks at our house since the last incident. As far as we are concerned...police and local liason officers have the job done. In the meantime, it's come to light that one of our neighbours were having similar problems to us as well as a house in the next close. Neither have had any problems since then, so logically, they got those directly involved. Thankyou for your wish for us to have closure and possible apologies etc but we already have and wish to leave it at that. Jester & Family
  8. Hi Wonky! Cheers mate but it's just me venting a bit anger here!(thanks for the offer though! ) Thought it might have gone a bit quiet because of the bad weather but it all kicked off again on New Years Day and last night too. New Years Day (approx 6:45pm) Spent a wonderful afternoon with the kids building a snowman on the front garden for my 3yr old daughter to discover the head had been knocked off at 6:45. Went out and put it back on to stop her crying(and believe me, she can certainly cry!). Told her to look out the window to see it up again, only to see 4 kids(approx 13-16yrs) running away from the house and seeing the snowman totally over this time....obviously had fun watching me from somewhere! May sound a bit trivial to some but as far as i'm concerned, they had upset my 3yr old, trespassed on my property and totally pissed me off again! Called the kids over. 2 ran off straight away, 2 came over to my door. The 2 who came back said it was their mates and they, themselves were not happy with what they had done. I got them to take me around to their mates house but on the way, one of them received a txt saying "don't take him around to my house"....they were watching us as usual from the waste ground in the Meadowdale Farm estate...the usual escape route! I told him to call them and if they came back i wouldn't call the police. They did, i marched them back to the house and made them put the snowman back up. At this point i took their names and address's. When i asked the taller one of the two(15-16yrs) why?...he started laughing and said he was bored! He then decided to have a good look into the hallway of the house before "eyeballing" me inches from my face! Told him to back off, he wouldn't. As we were on my doorstep by now, i pushed him away from me and told him to take a good shot as it would be his only one. He stared at at me for few moments before his nerve went and turned away. The 2 lads who called them back made him apologise (they seemed sincere all the time), he apologised half-heartedly and walked away. 10 mins later...snowball at the front window! No police called as it would have been a bit silly talking about a snowmans head being knocked off!....but yet more aggro! 2nd Jan Wife putting the kids to bed upstairs so i went to lock the front door for the night, only to see 4-6 kids with dark hoodies on my front drive. Startled, they ran off.....i had just caught them before they had got at the door! I'd just wish i had been a few seconds later and got them at the door...so close! Called the Police this time and went looking for the shits. Waved the Police down when i was out and told them what had been going on again (been told to log all trouble). Gave her the 2 names and addresses i had. She went round and both of them said they hadn't been out, which their parents verified. The tallest of the 2 (15yrs but still about 5ft 8")from what the Police officer told me) had told his parents i had pushed him the night previously...obviously trying to get me in trouble. The Officer said as he was on my doorstep, using threatening behaviour, she didn't have a problem with that! HA When she explained to the parents i had been having trouble for 2 years now, they didn't seem to be bothered in the least, she said. What did come up in the discussion, is that he said, it had not been him all the time...he had only been round a couple of times !!!...At last, finally found one of the scumbags and he admitted giving me grief in the past too! Pity he's only 15 eh? There are now a lot of thoughts running through my head what to do with the info i've got. For now, i'll leave it with the Police. I'm not saying he's the only one involved and there are obviously groups not connected with him but i'd like a little payback sometime....i'll wait! One thing is for sure! I'll be contacting the school again (see earlier posts!)and naming him (they asked me too), demanding a meeting with the Police Inspector, who simply dismissed me over the phone last time and addressing the situation in the local press (NPL etc). You know something....we have never bothered anybody at all, always kept ourselves to ourselves. I've more or less always lived in Bedlington. Born here, brought up here, so why do i have to put up with all this !*!@#? This is the last effort i'm going to make before i loose it all together. I've simply had enough! If i could afford it, i'd move my family away for good. If this continues, i'll get into trouble....for those of you saying don't!...believe me, the shear frustration and anger i'm feeling at my family getting grief off these shits is too overwhelming to consider anything else! Sorry about the doom and gloom at the start of 2010 guys! Maybe this forum is still my kind of therapy!
  9. Well, that's it.....going to rip their !*!@# heads off now if i get hold of them !!!! Even got a name this time! Anybody else up for a bit of scum bashing?
  10. Hope you all had a great Xmas and all the best for 2010 to you all !!! Jester

    Windows 7

Gutted...!!! Been looking at a Dell laptop with Windows 7 and the spec i needed(wanted ) in one of those leaflets that falls out of a magazine when you turn it upside down. Well, it wasn't until i tried to order it online and realised the offer ended 18th November! It's now almost double the price! Needless to say, i did a speedy exit from the order process! Dell obviously cashing in on the Xmas surge in orders...Bah Humbug! Need it fairly fast but you think i should wait until Dell decides to release the New Year offers?....those crafty bu*****!

    Windows 7

I need to buy a new laptop and was wondering if anybody has used Windows 7 for any length of time yet? Using a Dell Inspiron 9400 at the moment with XP Media Centre Edition and after 5 years, it's now acting up big-time(hard disk/memory/parity check errors etc, resulting in the BSOD on a regular basis), so i thought the kids could have it to themselves and treat myself for Xmas. Never upgraded to Vista(thank God)so Windows 7 would be a totally new experience for me. Considered going for a Mac but totally priced myself out them! Anybody using it now? First impressions? I know that there has already been a couple of "glitches" resulting in a BLACK Screen Of Death? Anyway, your comments, as usual, would be appreciated! Thanks!
  13. Just a quick thanks for the comments from you all on this thread! I believe there has been a few talks at Benny's by the police and "usual suspects" talked to since i originally posted, so it's been fairly quiet around here. The weather has probably got something to do with keeping the scum indoors! Fingers crossed folks and in the meantime, i'm going to enjoy the peace while it lasts! It's going to be a busy time leading up to Xmas for me, so if i don't get the chance before hand, i'd like to thank you and wish you all a Merry Xmas !!! Enjoy!!
  14. Cheers everybody! Got a few PM's and some good advice too.
  15. I used to live in Beaufront Park while the estate was still being built. When we were in the Sales Office (Leech i think), when enquiring about a plot, we were told, that because it was going to be a residential estate, there would be no commercial vehicles allowed to park there overnight in order to keep it a "picturesque" place to live. I thought at the time, that it was a daft thing to say, especially if anybody using a van/lorry wanted to buy a place there! Guess what?.....we had 2 baked potato trailers parked up on the drive next to us! Didn't look good but they were good people so we put up with it. Thank God they were not parked up when people came viewing! In the Sales Office for the estate we are in now, the same thing was said and i didn't even pick them up on it! Guess what?.....yeah you got it! Vans parked all over the place and the occasional "artic" sometimes parked on the corner right outside our window? I know where you are coming from Warhorse! Don't know what you can do about it but i wish you luck!
  16. Took the family to the Morpeth Rugby Club display and it was actually quite good! Kids loved the fireworks...the bonfire was a waste of time though as it was so far away and even the kids asked why is there a fire over there? £8 for the whole family (2+2) £5 for 2 "light sabres" which the kids were more interested in as they had just watched Star Wars- Revenge of the Sith the night before and this proved to be the icing on the cake as far as they were concerned! All in all.....the kids loved it and it tired them out for the night which suited us! Would probably go again next year...hopefully it's actually on the 5th!
  17. Just wondering if there are any full/part-time Web Designers on the forum as i'm need of some advice? I've also come across a business opportunity and may require the services of a good local designer too if anybody is interested?
  18. The Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) have released to the media, details of the opportunity to invest in a consortium to buy out the present idiot in charge of NUFC. Full details are at:- My link There are various options to how to release cash if you are interested in having a say in the running of your club! If it works....i for one couldn't be happier if it's run along the lines of Barcelona FC! If it doesn't....then God help us and let's start praying for a cash-rich saviour to come our way!( hold on....this smells of what we were hoping for, when Big Mike came along ) I for one, will be keeping an eye on the situation and may think about investing. Pity it's in the middle of a Credit Crunch as i think any other time, there would be a huge response. I'm getting sick and tired of that "FFB" sitting at St.James'Park(it'll always be that to us) and wondering what next he can do to try and get his own back for all the demos, threats etc in the past! Any other Toon fans thinking of doing the same? Anybody any thoughts on this?
  19. With all respect Chamone, i totally agree with mercuryg's view on the matter! These kids are aged 12-16 with most instances being caused to me personally by the older ones(ie 15-16). At that age, they know right from wrong as far as i'm concerned. Either the parents influence on their upbringing has failed or the school(as a learning establishment) as failed to educate them enough to join a civilised society...or....as it's my guess....they have just made their own minds up and decided to join their mates in making other people's lives a misery !!! Very unlikely they'll grow up to be a benefit to us all if they carry on like this. My family are suffering, while these scumbags have their laughs. I wouldn't wish it on anybody else and i'm sure knowbody in their right mind would continue to put up with the present situation while thinking "ah, if only they had something else to do" I'm sure that the parents don't know what their kids are up to (i'd like to think so anyway) but if my kid was out on a weekend night with their "mates" and there was umpteen articles in the local press with regards to disorder in the town, then i'd be checking them out for sure. In the meantime, i'm looking into some discreet cctv to see if it helps, but we'll see. I'm not on here to give the view of me being a martyr against the crime around here or anything like that....just a married guy with a very young family who is getting frustrated by the idiots around here out to cause us grief. I came onto the forum to get a few things off my chest and i'm pleased to see there has been some replies to my posting. Maybe it's a form of therapy for me! Thanks all!
  20. Using and old Sony at the moment but the model number escapes me! I'm looking around at the moment for a new DSLR to compliment my business and in total awe of the Nikon 300. Still hanging about, seeing how far the price will drop now that the newer 300s is out. Haven't started buying kit yet, so could still be tempted by Canon! Stuck in the middle here....want a Canon because of the availability of some cheap lens off a friend but really prefer the handling of the Nikon. Got to make my mind up soon....been dawdling for 12 months now!
  21. Just to add to the posting. Friday was "Hell" according to the police. They were kept busy down the Market Place about the same time with fights breaking out and trouble caused, not by the few drinkers frequenting the pubs but, again, young'uns pissed out of their tiny minds walking the streets causing mayhem. It's getting so bad, instead of warnings, they are going for a "zero tolerance" stand and going to actually start arresting the so and so's over the coming weeks...at least that's something! When i was a young'un in the 80's(yeah, i'm getting on!), i was just happy if i got served in the North without being asked my age and then trying to walk home to the station saying that i was ok and trying to walk straight at the same time! No trouble...just straight to the chinese at the station for the good old chips+gravy..cos it was cheap and then home! Memories eh? Bedlington lad all my life and i still love it (for some strange reason ) but it's not the same anymore, but which town is these days? Well, that's enough of the long postings on the matter....promise to be more happier and shorter now that i've re-discovered this forum! Night Peeps!
  22. Thanks for the replies! CCTV has been suggested by the police this weekend and as Cympil has mentioned, if i get them on camera damaging the property, then i could get a prosecution, so that will probably be the next step! As for mentioning certain things on a public forum, consider it a "wish list" then! And oh, how i wish! One of these days, one of them will trip up while running away and i'm sure i'll extend the hand of friendship....NOT !!! Thanks all. Sometimes just getting things off your chest does you the world of good!
