In our town, similar in size to Bedlington, since the beginning of the crisis we have 8 confirmed cases, 2 of whom have died, and 11 in isolation, presumeably because they have been in contact with the 8 confirmed cases.

3G and myself are doing fine here in Italy. We are in the South, and are fairing far better than the poor people in Lombardy. That's not to say that it's good, we do still have many cases here, but compared to the north we are getting off very lightly.
We don't go out very much at all, but do have a very large garden we can get out into. 3G hasn't been out at all since 20th March, when he decided the daily bike ride wasn't worth the €3000 euro fine if caught.
The lockdown is very, very strict here. We have to carry a form with us when we (I) go out, stating exactly where we have come from, where we are going, and why. Only one person from the household can go shopping, and at our local Lidl only 10 people in the shop at any one time.
I go out to do the shopping no more than once a week if I can help it.
That's it then, that is how things are for us here in Italy.

He never mentioned Bedlington at all - Ashington, Blyth, Cramlington.

Isn't Ashianas a bit further down the block, more to the right of the entrance to Foggans Yard. I think the TSB is on the corner where the fish shop was.

Well I'm not in the UK.

And now the children's wooden summer house has been burnt down at the Whitley memorial first school. How disgusting is that. The ones responsible need catching and stringing up. Why target small children like that? I really have no more words. Sadly it makes me a bit glad I am "ex Bedlingtonian" and I never thought I would say that.

Low of 1.27 now 1.32 looks like an upward trend to me. 1 week of rising pound with only a small blip yesterday. It's a very small sample of course but so is the less than a month from June 23rd you're basing your constant doom mongering on @mercuryg
Time will tell I guess
1.33 now.

As far as I know it cannot be back dated.

Interesting vote so far - where are all the Remain supporters?

Hmm... Not saying anyone is wrong, as my memory ain't what it used to be, but I always thought that NVR was in the old Rediffusion shop.
I think you are both right. I seem to remember NVR was originally in the shop further up, but I think they possibly did move into the old Rediffusion shop after Granada left.

Well I moved to Bedlington in 1976, and the shutters were definitely already there then.

I think the shutters went up when Zuenziga took over the shop
The shutters were there when Rediffusion occupied the shop, and how long is it since THEY were in Bedlington.

Happy Birthday Brett, hope you have a good day.

The church where they filmed the wedding scene for The Godfather is also there somewhere, but not sure exactly where. There is a restaurant beside it which I believe does very well out of it's reputation for feeding cast and crew while filming.

It's funny you should say that, ex Bed., the forestry workers here swear by it! I might give it a try.
It was guests here who first told me about it, and they had travelled all over the tropics using it.

Oh, forgot the important bit! The mozzies are now out in force, and right on cue I've just been bitten! Take plenty of good quality protective, and don't wait until you are bitten. Apply generously well before the sun goes down. Autan works well but can be ridiculously expensive. You are in the malaria zone on the South coast of Sicily, but it's not the anopheles mozzie that's the main danger at the moment. West Nile disease (tigre mozzie) is always a background risk, and Zika is a disaster waiting to happen (the climate is just right for aedes aegypti).
Avon Skin so Soft works a treat, and smells much nicer than Autan. I have been using the pink one for the last few years, but got the blue to try this time. Guess I need to think about digging it out.

Our lockdown seems much stricter than in the UK, and apart from the first couple of weeks, most people in our town are mostly sticking to the rules. As far as I am aware we don't know any of the people involved, and I am sure our Italian friend would have told us if we did. Although our Mayor is now giving daily bulletins he isn't naming any names - quite rightly I think, we have to respect the families involved.
