  1. But do we want to spoil it for ourselves by bringing in too many tourists?
  2. Few guesses really, and the two I got wrong I knew the right answer but doubted myself. . Think the Italian helped a bit too.
  3. Or as my grandmother told her mother when working in a munitions factory in Scotland, and asked if she was saving for a rainy day - "it always rains in Scotland mother". Be careful one day you don't wake up old and infirm and not able to enjoy what you have saved so hard for! Somewhere there is a middle ground.
  4. Don't think that was the same company Brett. The owners of the lighting studio used to be members of the Chamber of Trade, and I believe still have a shop in the Metro Centre, at least they did a while ago, not been there for a while.
  5. The Church itself has been saved surely.
  6. 20 years ago I used to go to a dog training class in the building. It was falling down even then. The floor was rotting, and there were parts of it we couldn't use in case we went through the floor. I don't remember any remedial work being done to it in the ensuing years, so I doubt there would be much left to conserve.
  7. That is because the good, long sighted management have voted with their feet.
  8. Doubt it, not enough meat on it - grow it for a couple of years first
  9. To a degree I agree with you on the culling of animals, but here there were other options. Other zoos were prepared to take him. Did they just let him live for 18 months so there was enough meat to go around? Yes, animals eat other animals in the wild, but in the wild at least the prey has a chance to escape, this animal had no chance.
  10. Am totally appalled at the killing of the baby giraffe at Copenhagen Zoo. Yorkshire Wildlife Park offered to take him, and having been there I am sure they could have offered him a good life there.
  11. As far as I remember the roses are "Pride of Wansbeck" and that is what the plaque said - I take it it is no longer there. I may have a photo in my box of hundreds of photos, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
  12. My father was an engineer on oil tankers. Can still remember (and love) the smell of them.
  13. Thought it said between 2.10 and 10.am, must have been half asleep when I read it.
  14. "You can vote more than once". Anyone know how to set it up to continuously vote for 7 days.
  15. That worked. How come it wasn't discovered until 10am, surely the store opens long before then?
  16. Can't get the link to work Malcolm.
  17. But it had to be raised here first, shouldn't have had to be.
  18. So what party do the others represent? Let me guess ...........
