  1. There are places where they are needed and places where they are not. I remember a business owner on Front Street West complaining to one of our local councilors many years ago that the yellow lines were badly affecting their trade - the response - "I don't care how many businesses close, the yellow lines stay!" Somewhere there has to be a sensible compromise.
  2. Can anyone recommend a builder who will take on a small job. We have a wooden lintel in a stone building which needs replacing fairly quickly, probably with a small RSJ, but will take their advice on this. I can email a photo to anyone interested. I think the opening is about 1m to 1.5m. A good job at a reasonable price may well lead to further work.
  3. Ah but we are not all blessed with hindsight.
  4. I remember many, many years ago, when the Co-op was still there, they announced they were going to close. The then Council persuaded them to stay open for a further 6 months, whilst telling the town "use it or loose it". The people still didn't use it, so the Co-op closed. It is all very well calling for shops, but when they were there people didn't use them.
  5. Not for me either foxy, which is really odd because Mr. ExB, sitting right next to me, can get it on his laptop.
  6. D**n, Mr. Ex B wins that argument then.
  7. Malcolm, can you clarify the east/west Bedlington Council boundaries - there is a bit of an argument going on here between myself and Mr. ex-B.
  8. Well I don't sit and watch it all day, but if I see car lights flashing I will presume it is you.
  9. They look pretty good on the "live" feed if you take a look at night.
  10. I agree with Mrs Sym, olive oil, yoghurt and no salt is much better.
  11. Political debate is fine by me too. Those who don't want it don't have to read it.
  12. Sorry, no offense intended - just curious. "Serious stuff about Bedlington, the wider Bedlingtonshire area,"
  13. What has he got to do with the town?
  14. Am I missing something here - why is "Bryan Ferry" in "Talk of the Town"?
  15. I saw GGGG up a set of ladders! Posted by Malcolm back in September I think.

  17. I am not absolutely certain on this one, but the way I read it was you didn't have to take the 25% lump sum all in one go, but could take smaller amounts at a time and the first 25% if each of these amounts would be tax free. Would this not amount to the same thing in the long run?
  18. "Update: Could you pass a Scottish citizen test"? Only one wrong.
  19. Try unblock-us.com - about $5 a month, and you can be anywhere in the world.
