  1. The shutters were there when Rediffusion occupied the shop, and how long is it since THEY were in Bedlington.
  2. Happy Birthday Brett, hope you have a good day.
  3. The church where they filmed the wedding scene for The Godfather is also there somewhere, but not sure exactly where. There is a restaurant beside it which I believe does very well out of it's reputation for feeding cast and crew while filming.
  4. It was guests here who first told me about it, and they had travelled all over the tropics using it.
  5. Avon Skin so Soft works a treat, and smells much nicer than Autan. I have been using the pink one for the last few years, but got the blue to try this time. Guess I need to think about digging it out.
  6. The Villa Romana del Casale (Sicilian: Villa Rumana dû Casali) is a Roman villa built in the first quarter of the 4th century and located about 3 km outside the town of Piazza Armerina, Sicily, southern Italy. It contains the richest, largest and most complex collection of Roman mosaics in the world,[1] and has been designated as one of 49 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Italy.[2] From Wikipedia. Etna is worth a visit too, but take something warm, it is VERY cold up there after the warmth of the coastal area.
  7. Taormina, Agrigento, and a wonderful Roman Villa fairly near Agrigento. I will go and find my guide book for it, and let you have the name.
  8. Well if I had the faintest idea what TTIP was I might find this post interesting, as it is I haven't a clue.

  10. Possibly because of the time difference?
  11. doubt it very much. Brits lived in Italy long before there was any EU.
  12. Nope, don't have dual citizenship, purely English. I just happen to live in Italy, and so am entitled to an Italian ID card. Italian National Service has nothing to do with it. Ask the Mayor, he will vouch for me.
  13. Your son in law is Greek, that is the key. Italians can also travel to the UK on an Italian ID Card - as can any other Europeans I would presume. I have an Italian ID card but cannot use it for travel outside of Italy.
  14. That must have been very early because I was interviewed in Greggs at some very early hour.
  15. did someone in a white car just flash their lights at it as they went past a couple of minutes ago?
  16. I agree with most of what you say, but here in Italy I find the fruit and veg do not stay fresh for as long as those bought at other supermarkets. Fine if you are going to use straight away, or are prepared to shop every day, but not if you want to keep them for a few days. On the employment front, at least in our local Lidl, they only seem to employ Italians, and believe me we are getting a lot of immigrants at the moment. I do do the vast majority of my shopping at Lidl, but then again it is less than 2km away.
  17. Presumably they are also selling the land they were given for nothing!
  18. I don't think 3G has ever claimed not to "care for other people whatever part of Europe you come from", he just doesn't believe the EU is the answer. That is how I read his posts anyway.
  19. Surely if we get out less than we put in we are net losers? If we had all the money we were putting in then we would have the money, and more, for the projects that the EU is supposedly funding. Is this not simple maths.
