  1. The Iraq War

An inquiry was concluded by Sir John Chilcot in 2011 into the Iraq war, but still Britain's political establishment refuses to release it. On Tuesday, 20th January 2015, the BBC stated that the report is now not due to be released until AFTER the UK General Election.

Please sign the petition to have this report released immediately

  2. It's always a mystery when they disappear.  It could be for any number of reasons:  they've croaked and not left instructions to their next of kin to inform us, they've been lifted by the Peelers and are now in the pokey, they're on the run, they've moved-on having outgrown the childishness sometime on display here.  Or, perhaps the guys with their fingers on the kill-trigger switch here have 'terminated' them.

Definitley not croaked it Symptons, at least i think I've not. Pellers not this week. Time is the answer not much of it these days.

  3. Hi, I posted the pics and can confirm that it is Stuart Bowman. He lived 2 doors away from me in Melrose Avenue when I was growing up and now lives in Guide Post. His brother John is a member of this website too.

My Mother Hilda Reed is also on there and others include Dolly Temple, Audrey Howie, Molly Henderson, Audrey Davidson.

Hi Reedy, I went to school with Stuart and we hung abouty together after we left school. I travel up to Bedlington about four/five times a year and meet up with Stuart and other old friend for a pint or two.

  4. Just joined this Bedlington Community site, found by accident whilst looking for old pics/maps of the A pit, Bedlington Station.

Saw the old school picture from Class 6 1957 and my older brother is in it.

I started Barrington County Primary in 1952 and may be able to contact some people who could answer some of the questions asked.

The only person I can recognise on the Glove Factory pictures is the young bloke, at the left, kneeling in one and standing in the back in the other.

Can only remember his first name, Jimmy, and he used to mend the sewing machines. Lived down at the Bank Top in Melrose Avenue next to what is now Ian Gerrard's cycle shop.

I will copy the pics of the glove company staff and see if I can get any of them identified.

Eggy1948, The lad kneeling in one and standing in the back in the other is Stuart Bowman. He did live at the Bank top.

  5. The other Keith mentioned this on The Oval Shops site, but he said it just sold instruments. I honestly can't remember Milne House selling them but others can. But we had loads of sixties top ten 45's so my mother must have bought them somewhere - in Bedlington presumably!

Woolworths in Blyth sold 45s but they had their own label (Embasy) mainly copies of the original. The record shop in the oval definitly sold 45s because I bought 45s there but can not remember the name of the shop. There where shops in Morpeth that sold them as well

  6. Right, please, help.

When me and my bro were about ten yrs old we used to listen to Elvis Presley,The Beatles and the Rolling Stones on an old Danzig? (Wooden Heart, Help & Get off of my cloud, etc,) as well as a host of others like Shrimp Boats and Tower of Strength.

Now we were obviously too young to buy records so that means my mother must have bought them. BUT where would she have bought 45s in Bedlington?

Can anyone help on this one. Cheers.

There was a record shop in the Oval that sold 45s, late fifties I belive.

  7. If the tape arrives early enough Pete, put it over your eyes :(

Could be a good idea, as I head on the radio yesterday if we loose tomorrow against Fulham he will field a weak side on Thursday. Still, looking forward to it.

  8. Sorry for the delay in your prize. Pete, it's just that…well, I thought the others would be jealous, so I withheld it. But since you insist!!!

In keeping with the connection I have decided to give you a lifetime's supply of…MASKing tape. But there is a condition. You have to do something artistic with this MASKing tape; something like that loony…er…artist Christo. I have attached examples of his work.

Now you are going to go one better than Christo. You are going to actually cover yourself with MASKing tape and tour the world's art galleries as a living piece of art. It will be a new movement in the art world and will be called the Fine Art Renaissance Tour - FART, for short. It will be fart for fart sake and I hope you can follow through with other endeavours.

Here is a picture of how you will look on your tour. post-2953-0-02488300-1365107456_thumb.jp

As you can see the other members will be jealous but their loss is your gain. So wrap up well and if you want to thank me for your prize just call by in your car and toot and come in.

Thanks Keith, can't wait to get started, when will the masking tap arrive, before Thursday I hope as I have a ticket for the match on Thursday night (Toon v Benfica)
