  1. No Bill, it was Bob McGregor. I had a good week last week, stopped at Cresswell Towers for the week. Met up with a lot of old friends in Bedlington.
  2. As a said Bill a cud nivor spel propaley There was a few local groups around at that time, The Avengers as you have already mentioned, The Dynacords and the Olympics to name just three. I remember the Avengers and the Olympics used to practice at the YMCA at the station, I think Alan has mentioned that in previous posts. I remember the Dynacords used to practice in the Wharton but I did not see them much, it was good for Bedlington to have so many groups. Last time I was in Bedlington (a couple of months ago) I was talking to a friend of yours, Bill, Mr Mcgregor and hopefully will be having a pint with him again in September as we are coming up for the week.
  3. A niver could spel properley. But back to the question HPW, did the Dynacords used to practice in the Wharton?
  4. HPW, if I have got it right the Dynachords uses to practice at the Wharton. Did they have a female vocalist at one stage?
  5. Happy Birthday Foxy, hope you have a great day.
  6. Thanks Alan, a bit of good detective work there.
  7. Magic Alan, second image from bottom solves the problem of when the new YM was opened. Looks like 26th May 1961. Cheers mate
  8. Not sure if you have seen this, Alan and Richard? but it shows Bedlington United, Bedlington and Bedlington Terriers (Northumberland Senior Cup). Was there a team called just, Bedlington in the 90s? https://www.nufc.com/2018-19html/senior-cup-history.html
  9. Mostly Pigeons, but there was only a hand full of allotments there. Entrance was from the cut and they were sandwiched between the gardens of Pioneer Terrace and Waverley Avenue. I have not been past that area for a lot of years but I think they built houses or flats on that land both sides of the cut.
  10. Yes but on the right hand side, the left hand side was allotments. Right hand side was know as Moles farm.
  11. Looking at google earth I think Tullys may have been no 27, but to be honest I have never heard of Wingrove House. I remember Moles farm house on Pioneer Terrace.
  12. Could no 28 have been Tullys the dentist if not it must be pretty close?
  13. Happy birthday Brian, hope you have a great day. Will you be having a barbie and a cold beer?
  14. Happy Birthday Vic, Hope you have a great day. Have you still got snow or is the weather changing?
  15. A bit more evidence, check out this site, 3rd qualifying round. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1961–62_FA_Cup_qualifying_rounds Ashington 2 2 Bedlington Replay Bedlington 1 4 Ashington Does not mention the venue but I was definitely there (Station Park)
  16. I would agree with the Station park. I watched them play Ashington in an FA cup preliminary round 1961 at the Station park. reason I remember it as 1961, it was the year I left school.
  17. Hope you have a great day Brian, have you got the barbie on?
  18. A bit late But Happy Birthday Canny Lass, hope you had/have a great day
  19. Happy New Year, have a great 2019
  20. Happy Birthday Andy, hope you have a great day.
  21. There was a group called the Dynacords 1960's
  22. CL, see Andy's post for 5th May. all we should be getting is a static image at the moment but if you hit refresh the image will update but still a static image.
  23. The dropdown menu seems to working fine now for me but if you are using Chrome and you get the little icon and no image try right clicking the icon and in the dropdown click, open image in new tab, works for me. Firefox seems to working ok.
