  1. It took quite a while coming but I finally got around to adding the town timeline to the website.

Use the main menu above to get started.

Members can submit changes and add new entries as easily as creating a new topic in the forums. Revisions are stored to prevent abuse and full commenting is supported to help with collaboration.

Thanks to @johndawsonjune1955 and http://www.sixtownships.org.uk for the original source material.

  2. We are excited to announce the Leaderboard as the latest all new feature of Bedlington.co.uk. The new Leaderboard is designed to better highlight the most active contributors and content based on likes.

The Past Leaders tab shows the "winners" of each day in history. Those who win the day also get a badge on their profile page to highlight that they were the member with the most reputation for a particular day.

Click the leaderboard link in the menu above or visit your profile to see when you last won the day.

After a period of planning Arch are about to embark on the delivery phase of a new £10m project in your town which will see shops, affordable homes for local people, leisure provision and services for community in Bedlington.

This is part of a significant package of investment of over £27m in new, refurbished schools, parks and play areas, a refreshed retail offer and new homes which will contribute to the redevelopment of the town centre. This website will keep you up to date on the developments across Bedlington, as the town centre is transformed.

  4. Perhaps we could have a politics forum to separate these out for those not interested? It's important to not suppress these discussions as these are obviously very important even though they may be polarising at times.

As always we're open to suggestions but do actually rely on the contributions of those organising events such as this. I still think there is often misunderstanding about how this site works as I do occasionally get emails for events like this which I add where I can but this is not traditional media. You do not need to ask permission, the facilities are available for everyone. The community calendar is open to all and members can even opt in to be notified when new events are added.

  6. Which method are you using? Are you dragging the file onto the attachment bar where it says "drag files here to attach", clicking "choose files" and selecting it on your computer or using insert other media and selecting insert image from url?

    Also which browser?

When adding comments - to individual photos within the Gallery I am unable to use the 4 arrow keys to move around the written text. Every time I hit the arrow key it causes a 'Page up' moving out of the Comment box and 9 times out of 10 I loose what I have already typed and have to start again.

Which browser are you using so I can test this?

Regarding losing content; In the past if you typed a message and then your computer crashed or you had finished typing out a reply and there was a connection issue after you hit submit, then you would lose the post. This version of the software saves your post locally in your browser every few seconds and the content will remain. You should therefore never have to start from scratch unless you're using a really old browser. You can even log out, restart your computer mid way through posting, come back a week later and your draft reply will still be waiting for you.

Andy(4G) - Is there a function that allows you to delete photos from the Gallery?

There isn't unfortunately @Eggy1948, content can only be edited for 15 minutes after posting to avoid abuse. For example uploading an image/posting a new topic and allowing replies and then coming back later and altering the original content so the comments are now out of context. If you click the report button and request it is removed however it will alert the moderators who can remove it on your behalf. Normally you wouldn't want to do this however and the info regarding the picture would remain in the description/comments.

Topics now support an edit history so we could enable editing indefinitely but I would be reluctant to do this when the gallery does not support it. If you want to message me the new image and send me a link to the image it should replace I can alter it for you.
