Posted on Bygone Bedlington Facebook site by John Krzyzanowski :- 'May 31 1973. A bit of real Bedlington history. The announcement of the closure of the last Bedlington pit, Netherton colliery. It had been open since 1836 and at the time employed 558 men. End of an era.'
