Germany isn't listening anymore...

...and neither is the rest of Europe!

The only ones applauding are the apparatchiks and those with their snout in the EU trough.  The interests of ordinary Germans no longer count, because there's the post-democratic-elites to do their thinking for them.  But, most ordinary Germans no longer share the collective guilt complex that haunts Merkel and her cohorts. They just want to see the lives of their children improve, not get worse.  They worked bloody hard for this, and it's being snatched away by political dogmatists.

Very little reporting of this from the BBC here, and virtually no reporting of the building burnings.

Strange how you never seen any of the whistle blowers or chanting baying crowd in the video, only one bloke holding a placard close to the camera for effect.

it looks very much like those sounds have been dubed on to the video later.

A poor atempt at propaganda.

Umm.. it's raining and there's a sea of brollys!  Anyways thanks for that keen observation Moe as I'm now certain that the RT TV coverage I saw must have been faked too.  But, there's plenty of other video of Mutti being booed all over the place if you care to look.

Doesn't Volks Verraterin mean something like Traitor to the People?  Anyway, obviously more neo-nazi scum there, so ignore.

Thing is this has obviously got to her, because she's completely changed her stance - again! http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/598924f0-555d-11e5-9846-de406ccb37f2.html#axzz3ogAxbc17.  So, almost within days of unconditionally welcoming the World and its extended family, she's telling huge numbers of immigrants that they "must leave Germany".  And, in a historical context, just a few short years back she was declaring that "German multiculturalism has 'utterly failed'".  Though her recent open invite would only be applying the usual EU solution to things which patently aren't working: a lot more of the things which patently aren't working!

There's method in this general about-face madness though, because when you are primed to do a Corbyn-McDonnell you can never be wrong, or blamed for anything; it's all the fault of the minions and the electorate (or the poor-b immigrants who've spent every cent they had) for not keeping up with the current party line.   Joe Goebells?  Naah - I think Uncle Joe could relate to that though!

Sorry for keep reminding the decent folks on here ... but Fritz does have 'form' on the immigration/alien question.  Perhaps the German Chancellor will dust-off that old playbook for methods for the repatriation of aliens ... that comment has a certain 'ring' to it.

GGG - Uncle Joe, whilst instigating some top-notch Soviet propaganda, was simply no match for the genius of Herr Goebbels;  his canon of work is truly impressive.

Well RT (Russia Today ) is the number one propaganda channel in existense. It makes Tokyo Rose and Lord Haw Haw look like the Womens Institute.

Russia Today is Putin's weapon of mass deception.

Not quite that simple Moe.  The reason most people listened to Joyce and other German broadcasters (Lord Haw Haw) was that he provided information the UK government was covering up.  It took a good while before the wartime government worked out that honesty (with a bit of patriotic spin) was the best policy.  The present day BBC, in their PC stupor, has come very near to unlearning that simple lesson!

Amen to that.

It makes my blood boil having to pay the Biased Broadcasting Company a yearly ransom that's used  to give platforms to  celebs and luvies who don't know  stork from butter.

The BBC is  so out of touch with reality they think Joe public actually cares what those morons have to whinge and moan about .

Oh the trauma of having to drink warm Champagne

Apologies to The Spectator for ripping off more of their text than is reasonable under copyright law, but a significant number of people on this thread need an excuse not to face reality.

...

As the whole world now knows, on New Year's Eve in Cologne, dozens of German women were sexually assaulted, apparently by some of that country's more recent arrivals. For days the media across Europe declined to even report the story. It was only because of new media that the story began to get out at all. Then when the media did get around to reporting the story they covered it in that now-familiar way which suggests their job is not so much to report the facts as to negotiate between the facts and their fear over how the general public might react to those facts. Perhaps we should be grateful that there is any coverage a week after the attacks. After all, it took more than a decade for 1500 rapes in the north of England to make much news.

Yesterday the Guardian (where any male doing anything is usually a demonstration of 'rape culture') finally ran a piece suggesting that perhaps we shouldn't cover up actual, real rape-culture such as that in Cologne, conceding that it hadn't helped much with Rotherham. The piece was predictably hailed as brave and controversial  because today it has indeed become brave and controversial to report the facts. Thinking aloud about any of the repercussions of those facts, however, remains the pursuit only of a madman.

This is a shame, because some free thought and discussion about what is going on could have been useful at an earlier stage. Last year, when Angela Merkel flung open Germany's borders anyone who said, 'Are you sure you know what you're doing?' was shouted down with cries of 'racist'. Then, after about a million more people had come into the country even Chancellor Merkel started to wonder who they all were and whether they had all the right Germanic ideas. One minister finally said that they weren't keen on letting many more anti-Semites into Germany. And now in the wake of the New Year's Eve attack some politicians are saying they don't really want people who aren't even up to speed with even last millennia's views on women. Perhaps it is too late and German women will indeed have to follow the advice of the Mayor of Cologne and take more care when out on the streets ('No skirts. No trousers. Have you considered this lovely burka madam?')

It now emerges that most of those rampaging through the Fatherland the other day weren't asylum seekers, but, as with most 'good' propaganda the dirt sticks. I keep going on about Fritz's form in this regard ... those with long memories wil recall Marinus van der Lubbe getting blamed for the Reichstag fire back in 1933 and our old friend, Dr Goebbels, linking van Lubbe's membership of the Commie Party and European Jewry thus helping to 'kick-start' what happened next.

What happened to my inverted commas?  Has GGG not oiled a vital part when delving in the engine during the tune-up.  Also copy and paste doesn't seem to work hence my use of Quote ... I always liked to copy & paste.

I'm tempted to say the EU forced us to convert to €s - with the usual consequences, but the reality is we seem to have moved to UTF8.  Non fretta; all will be fixed anon.

Update: The borrowers under the floorboards have returned your quotes.  They promise not to do it again.

Why should we Believe this anymore than we should Believe anything else that's been written on the subject of New Year's Eve in Cologne?

The reports in the English speaking press have been as varied as they have been many. Let's take a look eight publications and compare their content, 5 - 11 January, in relation to New Year's Eve in Cologne. For the purpose of the excercise I've chosen: The Spectator (TS), The Daily Express (DE), The Observer (TO), The Independent (IND), The Guardian (TG), The International (INT) Sunday People (SP) and The New York Times (NYT). Together they represent a cross-section of news publications both in type - quality press or tabloid press - and political affiliation: left, right or centre. It could have been many others but choice is limited by the possibility of access to archived information via Internet and the cost of accessing it. I've taken a look at the reporting of: the number of filed complaints, the type of offence, the number of offences of a sexual nature, the number of suspects and their nationality and immigrant status.

Number of complaints filed:

Reporting on filed complaints varies from 60 (TG) just five days after the event, through "dozens" (TS) and 150 (also TS, same article) nine days after the event to 516 eleven days after the event. Some, but by no means all, of these differences can be attributed to the fact that complaints have continued to be filed several days after the event. The differences in reporting can clearly be seen in the editions of January 8 when DE reported on 106 filed complaints (made by 90 people), IND reported on 120 complaints and SP reported on: "60", "at least 90" and "more than 90" - all in the same article! Moving on to January 11, The Observer (TO) reported the number of filed complaints as being 516 (of which 395 are reported to have occurred during the week-end of 9-10 January). This enables the reader to deduce that the total number of complaints filed as per January 8 must have been 121 and, just to add to the confusion, the same article reports on the police giving their account of filed complaints as being 133! Who should we Believe?

Proportion of filed complaints related to sexual offences:

Again, the reports are varied. The Guardian reports on both "a huge amount" and "1/3" (read 20) of the 60 filed complaints as being of a sexual nature. This was however in the early stages of the reporting. Three days later, January 8, IND is reporting both a vague "more than 100" and a very specific "120" cases - both in the same article!  But, one day later, The Spectator gives is a lower figure, 112 (of the 150 filed complaints), as being sexual in nature. Meanwhile, back at the NYT, only three offences related to sex are being reported on. January 11, TO will have us Believe that 40% (206) of it's 516 reported cases are sex related, which equates to 48 cases if we, for ease of comparison, use the deduced figure of 121 from January 8. Even INT is now reporting that 40% (151) of its 379 filed complaints relate to sexual offences. Both  Sunday People and Daily Express aren't speculating on the number of sex crimes. Who should we Believe?

Types of offences reported:

All eight publications reported on the varying types of crime committed. These covered a wide range of offences from the more generic and evocative "massed sex attacks" and "vicious attacks", reported on by - you guessed it - The Spectator - to the somewhat milder "mugging" and "harassment" reported on by The Guardian. In between there are reports of theft, assault, sexual assault, pick-pocketing, robbery, sexual abuse, rape (INT and TS reported on 2 cases and TG on one case),sexual molestation and fighting. IND also reported on "pushing around" - if that's now a crime in a 2 000 man strong crowd on a New Years Eve in Germany! The Daily Express, bless its cotton socks, actually reported that there were no sexual offences among the 18 immigrant suspects! Who should we Believe?

This is what journalism (I'm almost ashamed to use the word in this context) will have us believe about the offences comitted on New Year's Eve in Cologne. I'll come back later and tell you what they want us to believe about the "alleged" - innocent until proved guilty and all that - perpetrators of these offences - but only if you behave yourselves!

Where was I? Oh yes

Nationality and immigrant status of suspects:

Reporting from The Spectator (TS), erring on the side of caution, would have us Believe that all suspects "appear to have been" Arab or North African, adding - as if to strengthen the hypothesis - that they "spoke neither English nor German. Only Arab/Arab looking and North African nationalities are reported on by Daily Express DE), The Observer (TO), The Guardian (TG) and Sunday People (SP) while The Independent (IND) mentions only "some Syrians". The New York Times (NYT), on the other hand, reports on eight different nationalities, including not only Arab and North African but even - wait for it - Serb, American and would you Believe it, German! The only publication to Think outside the box, as it were.

On the question of immigrant status TS remains cautious, claiming that suspects are "possibly some of the 1.1 million migrants who arrived last year". In total, seven of the publications take up the question of immigrant status, with only The Guardian choosing not to report on it. The Sunday People states that the immigration status is not known. Whether this lack of knowledge applies to the police in general or merely to SP cannot be determined from the text. Of the remaining publications, DE says that 18 of their reported 32 suspects are "immigrant" and NYT  seems to agree, at least as far as numbers go, specifying that 18 of 32 are assylum seekers. The Independent, which reported only two arrests, is less specific saying that the "suspects" are "mainly migrant and assylum seekers" and "some Syrian refugees". TO is also adopting a somewhat vague reporting strategy in claiming that police investigations are "focusing partly on refugees and immigrants". The International stands a little apart from the crowd, being the only publication to evoke the notion of 'illegality' among the immigrant suspects. Well done  International. You've got a real scoop there!

Again, I am forced to ask the question; Who should we Believe?

The only conclusion that can be drawn with any degree of certainty is that seven of the eight publications (if not all) are reporting incorrect information.

HUMILIATION FOR ANGELA: Anti-migrant movement trump Merkel's party in German election

Quote

ANGELA MERKEL has suffered an embarrassing defeat at an election in her own backyard after the country's anti-migrant movement soared ahead of the chancellor's ruling party in the polls.

In signs of growing discontent with the Chancellor a year after she announced her open borders policy, Mrs Merkel's CDU party was beaten into THIRD place by Germany’s Alternative for Deutschland party (AfD) who secured 21 per cent of the vote in her home state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern today.

Mrs Merkel’s Christian Democrat Union (CDU) secured a 19.2 per cent share of the vote as it faces an uphill struggle after already being rejected in favour of the AfD in THREE state elections already in March.

After the AfD win, the party leader Frauke Petry said: "We have made history here today.

"This is a slap in the face for Merkel - not only in Berlin but also in her home state. The voters made a clear statement against Merkel's disastrous immigration policies. This put her in her place."

The equivalent of losing a bye-election in the PMs home county, and AfD has only been going three years!  The interesting thing is that only 2% of the migrants have gone to this area. It's pretty clear that most Germans have now had enough, and if her own party doesn't give her the chop they - like her - are history come next year's GE.
