My brother David was in the ATC in guide Post, he really enjoyed it
Belated Happy Birthday Micky.

As Vic has said the ATC was in Ashington.

If your brother was in a cadet thing in Guide Post it would probably have been the Army Cadets. As I was in the late sixties early, seventies.
The leader was John Quinn (Capt.)
I had to quit when my hair got too long to hide under my beret. If only I still had that problem!

Bedies.
The home of the Army Cadets is on Morpeth Road estate. Still going I believe.

Behind & a little left of the war memorial. Directly opposite the Morpeth Road garage. Google map Queens Head Guide Post & trundle up the road a bit. It`s the white roofed hut on the right.

In my day it was very popular with the cadets Dads: the bar was open before 12 on a Sunday morning!

Seemed queer looking at Jonstones shoe shop and seeing a To Let sign in the window while driving past today. That must have to have been the longest continuing business there, I cant remember it being anything else. Is the Ashington shop still open?. Is Clive Jonstone still alive? I was noticing the work going on at our old house behind the shops, you could see in as you walk up the cut by the Tavern.

Keith.

I`ve bought shoes from Bedlington Johnson`s for 20 odd years. The people in the shop were always brilliant.

The shop in Ashington is still in existance & so is Clive, who gets my trade direct now.

Well!

I'm a bit disappointed in Bedlington at the minute. I've sent out invites to all of the pubs and restaurants in Bedlington for venues for the CCC and no one has got back to me! Morpeth and Stakeford are jumping at the chance! Cmon' Bedlington, keep the business local.....this is meant to be about communities and helping local revenue, not giving all of our business to neighbouring towns! I may have to end up changing the name to Morpeth CCC at this rate!

You tell`em Notsoshybedlingtonnew(ish)bie! :dj:
