Sunday Morning Abstruse Listenings

Yet another blog entry about a band that we did not see at the Green Man festival in 2010. It is now apparent that our familiarities with this genre of music was not as familiar as it could have been when going into such a place.

I have been in a sort of musical limbo for the past couple of months and finding myself tiresome of the types of stuff that I would normally listen to that was until I was watching Jools Holland after the missus had gone to bed one night, cider in hand.

Wild Beasts
I hadn't heard anything of these prior to Jools Holland's show despite having a look at the artists that were on the lineup for Green Man and listening to stuff that we may like. What i heard was astounding!! I eagerly watched waiting for them to come back on, enjoying Seasick Steve in between, and each track had me bewildered.

The song that really stood out for me during the tracks performed on Later was 'Albatross'. The vocal in this track is absolutely stunning and reminds me of another band but I can't for the life of me think of who it is, either way it resulted in me jumping up from where I was sitting and downloading the album immediately.

Sunday afternoon involved making dinner and having the album on repeat for approximately 3 hours whilst I repeatedly told the missus how good an album 'Smother' was.

The opening track 'Lions Share' has elements of Ludovico Enaudi in it which gives you a bit of a harrowing feel. Had 'Smother' on again in the car this morning and had myself an impossible little sing along but it's like the old can a tree be heard lark when I am in the car.

And after a couple of months since first writing this review collection of brain spoutings, I have listened to the album so much that if it were physically possible to wear out digital files I would have successfully have achieved this and also found different tracks which I class as favourites from the album so I thought I would share those too along with a live session.

My new favourite track from the album - End come too soon.
