Bedlington Old School Inquiry Adjourned
The inquiry over the future of the old Bedlington Infants School buildings at the junction of the Market Place with Church Lane has been adjourned almost as soon as it commenced.
Held on Tuesday 12th May and originally expected to last for three days. it has now been determined that new inquiry dates will be scheduled in September. Details will be published here on www.bedlington.co.uk
The former Bedlington Infants School was used as a church hall for some years before an unsafe floor caused its complete abandonment. Since then it has fallen prey to vandals, and is generally regarded as an eyesore in desperate need of suitable redevelopment.

with reference to comments made about the Old Church Hall, Bedlington, some people may think that this building is an eyesore, and would have no reservations in having it bulldosed down and some hideous block of flats replace it. This is a beautiful building in a conservation area and it could be restored back to its former glory, it is not beyond repair. Too many people who buy these types of buildings just want to demolish them and build some modern monstrosity in its place. This is a lovely building in a prominent place in Bedlington and we need to keep it, Bedlington Front Street and its surrounding areas needs to be preserved. KEEP THE DEVELOPERS OUT!
This building is part of Bedlingtons history its been there all my life dont bulldoze it dont make it in to flats or housing thats the last thing bedlington needs! make it into a museum or something that will make people want to go to bedlington. fix the floor and what ever needs doing to it and make it into something people can use and love. I went there as a child to brownies and to see santa at christmas, I went to dancing classes there and also went to sunday school there. Bedlington doesnt need more housing it needs more community spirit a youth club and some better shops. I have lived in bedlington all my life and would like to see it go up in the world not down. I am sick of people calling Bedlington a dump because its not its Home! We just need someone to give it a shove in the right direction and give people something to be proud of. P.S bring back the street fair!
I totally agree with sarah bring bk the picnic and the street fairs we had.Yes there is no longer a miners picnic but why dont we make one, yes the pits are not longer with us. But we should be proud of what was done all them years ago and flats on that fab ground is a joke it should be used for the church. I remember going there after choir on sunday for my hot orange juice and also dance class .Morpeth has the chantery why cant we have something similar to it like photos of how it was aswell as things to purchase how the town has changed over the years for the better ? .I dont know thats up to all of you to decide but some kind of museum or place for kids to go on day trips from school i think you could be on to something there sarah.
The enquiry is now set to be held on Tuesday 15th December at 10am in the Community Centre.
