The Blogs are dead; long live the Blogs!

Rightly criticised for being too difficult to use, we’ve excised the Blog feature – shortly to replace it with new user created webpages. All Bedlington.co.uk members with a minimum membership qualification, and no moderator warnings, will be able to create their own Bedlington pages.

There are few rules beyond the pages being legal, decent and appropriate to the Town. You may use them for any purpose commercial or non-commercial. The only non-obvious rule is that you may not use your pages simply to link to other domains. Your pages must stand on their own merit. There are several reasons for this. Two of which are that you must give back to the community some of what you take from it (that’s just like any responsible business or community would); also our sponsor would rightfully get upset paying to keep clients of competitor hosting companies (who don’t give so generously) supplied with web traffic. This doesn’t mean you can’t use links in proper context, or even generate your own advertising revenue from your pages. It simply means you can’t be a web leech.

Details of the roll-out will appear over the next few weeks. Meanwhile don’t hesitate to enquire if you can’t wait to get started. Bedlington.co.uk remains a community effort without any commercial ambitions for other than the Town as a whole!
